Well, ol' fatty has to be running...errr..walking off....Not very happy about all of this at the moment....Think I will take my chair from the ScooterStore and mosey on over to the "Positive Experiences" forum and state that I fucked every sub that has recently been collared....Hopefully that will make me feel better.

now that I have received my BMI score....I'm going to eat that tart slathered in mayonaise.....What really blows is that even at 190 which would be a  ridiculous weight for me...I would just be on the high end of normal.

Be careful, kittin. He is going to try to compensate by forcing you to drink large quantities of protein liquids, thus decreasing his BMI while increasing your own. Maybe that is why the BMI thing affects women more......it is all part of a male conspiracy!

BBW has more to do with self-acceptance, than with appearance.  There are Big Beautiful Men, too.  They are known as BHM, Big Handsome Men.  The terms "Big Beautiful Woman" and "BBW" were coined by a woman named Carole Shaw in 1979, when she started publishing the BBW Magazine, the world's first fashion magazine for the plus-size woman.  It was aimed at women, who, up until then, were rarely ever seen pictured in ads or magazines or in fashion shows, to show them that they didn't have to feel ugly, just because of their size and they didn't have to hide or dress badly and that they could have a romantic, sexual, and loving relationship.  The magazine helped to advance the "fat movement" and "fat acceptance", in this country, which had started in 1969 with NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance), a non-profit human rights organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for and eliminate discrimination of fat people. The Plus Size Clothing Industry had an estimated $76 billion in sales in 2006 and is expected to reach the $100 billion mark by 2012.
 There are quite a few BBW Admirer groups on Yahoo and there are plus-size dating services.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and plenty of people behold big women and big men as beautiful. BBW - Big Beautiful Women

Ok, I"m new to this site, but I know from other websites that there are certainly always scads of 'fat girl' threads, many expressing a lot of hostility to the idea that fat women might consider themselves attractive, sexual creatures. And I think the term bbw is a response to that cultural view that's so pervasive---there is a lot of negative feeling toward fat women. Fat is often joined with the word ugly as if they're inseparable. Jokes about fat women are certainly common. So what the term' big beautiful woman' is about is helping fat women feel acceptable and yes, even attractive. As a previous poster said, it's about the attitude: Yes, I'm fat and I think I'm beautiful just the way I am.

So perhaps you should look at it for what it is--a much more positive way of saying 'fat chick'. It's code, really. The word fat is so loaded for women that it's difficult to describe oneself as such for many.

As for me, I'm not a fan of the term for myself---I'm only 5'2" and more cute than beautiful. I like to call myself a cute fat chick, a chubster, or, if I want to playfully do the acronym thing, a scfc: short cute fat chick. ( I use the term fat chick because I think it should be a descriptive, not a pejorative term, but sometimes it still hurts to hear myself described as such.)

wow at this post...  I attempted to read all of the replys but I just gave up.  So My apologies if what I am about to say is redundant.

I studied sociology in school and from what My [jaded, misrepresented, subjective] theory books taught Me that terms such as those addressed in this thread (including self proclaimed ones), were often redesignated or created as sources of empowerment by and for the respective subjugated ethnic group.  Now, do I think large Women are inferior? No.  But it safe to say that is how the philosphy behind the term came to be.

Honestly, I used to hate the term BBW as well, but have succumbed to it's powers over the years, lol.  Kidding.  But I do use it now because it is an easy way to state that I am Big (because I am), Beautiful (again, because I am) and a Woman (...you get the picture) thus making it easy for those who do not like large Women to move on, and those who enjoy what I offer to easily find Me.  If large Women did not use the term BBW, I am sure someone would be composing a thread asking why all large Women are trying to hide the fact that they are fat.  Cannot please everyone, so get over it.

P.s. I see countless number of men who are mistaken when they self proclaim themselves to be: attractive, hung, good in bed, intelligent, funny, in shape, experienced in servitude (just to name a few).

Call me conceited but I'm just plain beautiful..my size has nothing to do with it- my beauty comes from within-- through my eyes, my smile- there are many ways ....I have lost alot of weight but am still considered big- and i'm okay with that..[:D]
