It amazes me that the vanilla notion of BBW also is alive and well in the BDSM realm.

When looking at the reality of life, not every woman is beautiful (and I am not bashing the female gender here...but you simply do not hear about a BBM...you simply hear about the "fat guy"). But all it takes for any woman to automatically become beautiful, is to become "big".

Now, I am not bashing big girls...I find them not only attractive and sexy, but also practical (a woman with more meat on her bones usually offers a much larger variety of practical applications in bondage, sexual use, etc. than an anorexic twig). But at the same time, please be real!! If you're just fat - then say so...and do not use the misnomer of BBW.

Am I the only one that feels that way?

hmm....ok. First I hate the term BBW myself.  I have been both huge, small and am currently a nice medium.  I've never liked it.  I don't know why it sticks in my craw but it does.  Someone else can call themselves that all day long, but don't call me that...no matter what my size.

Having said that...let's not start talking gender biases...how bout women go gray and men are distinquished?  How about a lifetime bachelor and an old maid?  I am sure I am not the only person who can play the biases game with you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and personally...if a woman chooses to call herself beautiful, I revel in that.  It shows self esteem, high regard for herself and an inner shine; I find that extremely beautiful!  If you don't think I am beautiful, well pppffftttt to you...cause I know I am...at any size...damn beautiful and even sexy *S*

There are unattractive thin people, unattractive big people, males and females. And there are beautiful people of all sizes and genders as well.  If someone believes themselves to be beautiful, then it isnt a misnomer. You might not agree, but then your opinion doesnt validate or invalidate them.
I believe I am beautiful. I do not really care who agrees with me, I am very happy with how I look, and thats what matters. I am not big, but I was.  I did not think of myself a s BBW when I was bigger, I didnt think it looked good. I have a ton of respect for those that know they can and do look good at larger sizes. I wasnt able to do it.
If a BBW advertised herself as a size 2, that would be misleading. However, if she believes she is beautiful then she IS in fact a Big Beautiful Woman. Attitude goes a long way with attractiveness, and those that believe that are are the ones that are going to get the attenton.
If you have problems with the terminology, just avoid it.

Then you have misread what I have posted - it is not a "fat thread"...as I am stating myself, I am a fan of big girls.

It is a question about (mis)perception and (mis)labeling of aesthetics.

It would be kind of cool if you were to put together some sort of a CM slideshow of your different proportions....Just a thought.  Trying to think of an appropriate song to set this...Will get back to you on this.

I have to admit I've never heard the acronym BHM. Learn something new everyday I guess.

OP be warned, this is a topic that tends to bring out an astonishing amount of hostility so I hope you can take it.

Personally I don't like the term BBW, never have and likely never will. Yes, I view it in the manner you describe. As if it is an automatic thing BUT to each their own.
If it makes someone happy to label themselves a BBW then so be it.

If anything, it should be considered it an "aesthetically-challenged thread"...but that is not what it is about...it is about perception and labeling.
