A lot of the ones that go poof never expected it to actually lead somewhere.
They realize that they have talked themselves into a corner and they panic and disappear.
Others get scared, more get caught since they shouldnt have been contacting someone ayway.
Sometimes theres a lgit reason for disapearing.

Its the internet, no one on here is gauranteed to be "real" until they are face to face with you.
And even then, as in the case with one boy I have tlaked to, theres no gaurnatee they wont go poof anyhow.

my guess would be this- it is perhaps easy to be something you are not.. however the facade lasts only a short while.

We could not agree more, we welcome telephone conversation and or real meet, heck we even offer for them to call us collect, that usually ends all conversation, or we have had several profiles disappear, we are at the point of copy and paste for the internet conversation:) The internet is a love /hate situation, on one hand there are a few real slaves who want real time, on the other way too many fantasy fakes, I wish we did not have to weed out so many to find one diamond.:)

I've always steered clear of long distance friendships but yesterday I spoke to someone for over an hour and he was 11,000 miles away - it was really brilliant to actually hear the voice behind the words on the screen.   Oooops im lusting again.. sorry

I would love to meet ppl r/l. I am wayy shy and timid and i state that constantly, but i WOULD meet and show up. Might not be the BEST first meet in the world, but i can assure you i'd meet for a 2nd and 3rd, with ZERO expectations except hoping to be freinds. But i am definatly not cyber or any some shit, just haven't met anyone from here yet, but damn if having a triple mocha with someone doesn't sound good! lol

Ya'll have a good one

I'm just confused. Someone says he's really interested, I put aside some time to chat with him with a view towards meeting up, and suddenly his profile is gone.

Cold feet? Fantasist? Offended someone else and got deleted?

One wonders.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I've since spoken to him on chat and looks as though his profile was accidentally deleted when he made a change. Although something niggles about this one, he said he was going to make a new profile just for me and hasn't done so yet. Plus some of the things he tells me are different from what he told a friend of mine who nearly got together with him a year ago. Lots of alarm bells, but I kind of like him. We'll see.

Yeah, that whole alarm bell thing.

I don't know what it is, but relationships happen all around me, and I see female friends dating guys who do all sorts of things to set off alarm bells on the level of something along the lines of discovering previous restraining orders, they are hit violently by their boyfriends, criminal records, on the run from the police, no explanation for the 52 women who keep calling at all hours of the night and hanging up. And they can explain away EVERY one of those situations as if "it's not a big deal" until he finally goes over the line and dump him, stating something along the lines of "you can never really know someone".

But if I leave the toilet seat up, I'm a gonner.

They lose interest because they don't get what they need o were'nt serious in the first place, or find someone else they're more interested in.

It happens with Doms too.
A few times when this has happened, they later admitted to being married or lying about some other aspect of their lives.
Another said he decided that I was too far away.
The thing that tends to bug me most about it is that they never seem to have the balls to just say politely "i'm sorry, but my heart isn't in this" or whatever.
