It suits Me, I like it, I see no need to change it.... not particularly making any 'statement' with it

Facial hair is currently in fashion.  In the 1800s a lot of men wore muttonchops and i would guess that the majority of Dominant men of the period also wore muttonchops.

There is a correlation between facial hair, baldness and testostorone levels.  The greater the testostorone the more body and facial hair and the greater the occurrance of baldness.  It would perhaps be a more accurate observation that more Masters have high testostorone?

(please excuse any misspellings.. my spell check isn't working)

I have a shaved head and a rather long goatee, 6-7 inches. I like the way I look with it, if others don't they don't have to look. Just a personal thing not because I am Dominant. Just My thoughts.

I've actually always liked the idea of having a slave who was skilled with a straight razor to do it though.

You and I think far too much alike.  I have the straight razor, but I am just not sure I trust my current pet (she is adoreable, but not all that detail oriented) to shave me with that kind of blade.

Straight razor shaves from girls in chains is just an amazingly hot scene!

Oh, and to stay on topic.  I shave once every other week, so I go from clean shaven to shaggy and then start over again.  I like it best about 4 or 5 days in...rugged, yet not too unkempt.

Elle hates any facial hair, and would have me shave daily.  Not sure what Kat thinks about it...but then I am not the kind of owner that would shave for his slave, anyway...

Perhaps it just means that older masters are too lazy to shave?

~stef

right on stef. and that is probably a good reason, even though i am clean shaven that is just b/c my job doesn't allow facial hair if i had the choice i will be lazy and not cut it like these older Masters. and besides most women i court think beards are sexy.

I thought I noticed that guys with facial tended to be Masters. So I did a little study of Masters who have their pics on Collarme. 60% of Masters had some form of facial hair. Of the 40% of  clean shaven Masters,  they tended to be young. 66% were under age 39. In fact, the majority is under age 26.

Seems like most older guys, lifestylers or not, tend to have more facial hair.

I'm into D, but not into B,S&M. I noticed that when I met a guy at a bar, if he had very well groomed facial hair, and especially a trimmed goatee, more often than not he was into heavy S&M. So I stayed away from him. As I was going down the list of Masters with pics in Collarme, it seemed that there were an awful lot of Masters with facial hair. That's when I did my little study. Personally, I like Masters with trimmed facial hair. I don't think it's a conscience decision. Ya know, I'm a dominant so I have to have facial hair,  maybe it's a Master thing.

Bingo!  It's five more minutes in the morning when I could be sleeping.  I've actually hated shaving since day one - that first shave turned out to be such a bitter disapointment.

So my question is why do most Masters have some form of facial hair?

I've had 3 Dominant men in my life. 2 were clean shaven and 1 wasn't. So, your "most" may be incorrect. Especially because you're basing it on a website and not real life. The majority of Dominant men that I know in real life do not have facial hair.

In Master's case, he has a gotee because 1) He looks good in it and 2) he feels he has "chicken lips" and uses the gotee to cover them up.

The whole facial hair thing is just hot. I tend to chase after the men folk with some kind of facial hair. Although, that homeless look isn't ever very sexy. Nice and neat is good.

I too have noticed that many dominants have a beard and are heavier as well. I have a theory about the latter, but as for the beard, my guess is that it is a a deliberate statement of domiance only for a few. I don't mind shaving and my beard comes in white. I blame the hot Arizona sun, it certainly could not be my age! Besides, beards scratch tender places and get all sticky sometimes. Clean shaven is best for me.
As for the heavy set, I have always figured we are just the kind of people who take big bites out of life. Sometimes is shows.

I only have a beard because everyone says I look better with it.
It makes my nose itch and it's hard to keep from getting chin dandruff.

If I didn't have a beard I'd look a lot younger. In my line of work people want me to look mature and staid. So it works for me. I get a lot of compliments on it, though. So I have that going for me.

Oh yuck.  I hope not.  I seriously loathe facial hair.

If I'm ever with a man who decides to stop shaving, I will do the exact same thing.  Everywhere.  And if he tries to pull the "oh but I'm keeping my beard trim" thing I will borrow his electric razor and let him learn that 1/4" of leg hair is still 1/4" of leg hair, and it's just as irritating on the face.

It's one of my few squeamish peculiarities, but there is nothing more disgusting than kissing a man, when we're both all sweaty from the passion of the moment, and rubbing my soft cheek against a wet clump of face hair.  Ew.  And I can only imagine how repulsive it would be after going *down* on me.
