To submissives. I have a theory about submissives. Let me know if you disagree or agree with this theory. I believe there are four types of submissives.  
  1. The catholic syndrome sub: This type of sub craves to experience being a slut, but her strict upbringing prevents her from fully letting go. By submitting and being forced to perform “dirty acts” the sub fulfills her fantasies, without feeling guilty. This type of sub enjoys bondage, humiliation and will “resist”, but eventually succumb to the Doms orders.
  2. The Stressed Sub: This type of sub usually is a professional with a high stress job. They are looking to release their stress by relinquishing power and submitting to a dom. They seek to please without making any decisions. They enjoy bondage, obey orders, and can handle a little pain.
  3. The Pain Slut: This type of sub derives great pleasure from pain. The Doms goal is to push the limit of pain tolerance of the sub. They enjoy punishment, bondage, and humiliation.
  4. The humble sub: This type of sub craves humiliation both in private and public and will do most any act requested by the Dom. They usually have a low self esteem or carry a heavy sense of guilt. In addition to humiliation, they enjoy bondage and some pain.

I agree with the four sterotypes given, as I have seen and/or met all four in person.  However, I think it is narrowminded to believe that those are the only four types of subs out there, or that any one sub fits neatly in to any one category.

I always thought there were just 3.

1. Slaves who slap me after I suggest how they should serve me and then they run off.

2. Slaves who laugh hysterically when I tell them how we're going to proceed further.

3. Slaves who arrive for our first play date with the restraining order already filled in.

Interesting divisions and there certainly are those types out there.  But I tend to think those are more personality/insecurity related rather than orientation.

Far more than just 4 at least double that and then add in the hybrid varieties where they combine 2 or more of the primary types.
slaves who find it to be a calling (historicly monastic type of calling to serve)
slaves who belive in supremacy of the other gender
slaves who are capable people in all areas of their lives and really only need someone to help them regulate how much they give to prevent burn out.

There are at least five more types;

Service. Gets fulfillment through making other people happy.

Purpose Seeking. Has difficulty finding a purpose or meaning in life and looks towards the Dom/me to provide it.

Structure Seeking. Looks to the Dom/me to reduce the chaos of life and provide order and consistency. Probably similar motive to your #2.

Self-loathing. Submissive/slave seeks self-sacrifice in various forms, potentially very unhealthy. Could easily be a more extreme version of your #4.

Stimulus junkie. Craves the endorphin rush of losing control or experiencing new things. This sub/slave tends to be scene only.

I would argue that these are not types, but representative of personality traits. A sub/slave could possess all of them, any combination of them to varying degrees, and/or have some other one(s) I haven't thought of.

Small breasts, thin hips, long, dark, wavy hair preferred. Something dark, no use for blond, blue-eyed types... asian, latin, redboners and yellow bones r0x!

i really dislike boxes, so you categorise a slave or a sub, do you then tie her up and put a ribbon on her forehead?

gracious, what happens if a girl doesn't fit into any of the boxes that you have identified does that means she's then rejected?

sorry, i'm all boxed out, have enough ribbons for my hair.  happy cateorgising.

I don't have a thing to say about this thread because I think it's a waste of time BUT.....is that Orko as your avatar?

I haven't met any submissives who can be neatly categorized as any of the above.  People are too complex, too subtle, for such neat distinctions.

The categories you describe certainly touch on elements of the submissive personality, but my experience has been these elements rarely if ever exist in isolation.

I think there are about as many "types" of submissives as there are submissive women.  No two are alike- not exactly- but, unfortunately, folks try to pigeonhole us into neat little stereotypes.  Yes, many subs have some elements of the "types" you described, or types that were listed by others- but, it's not like buying a car- "I'd like the standard humble sub package".  Just does not work that way- you are painting with too broad a brush- not allowing for individuality and life experiences.  Subs are not one dimensional (well, I'd hope not too many are, at least) and can't be sorted into categories, even if doing so might seem convenient and expedient to some.
