michaelOfGeorgia -> Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 11:15:46 AM)

i know this will probably be pulled by the MODs, but i thought i would try it anyway.

i know alot of us (myself included) are hit by the typo-bug from time to time. what bothers me most is, even when people realize something is misspelled (like in a topic), they just let it go. it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine and i, myself, try to catch my own typos (provided the *edit* option is still available.

to me, this kinda promotes illiteracy and mistakes. maybe i'm wrong for pointing it out, but i'm a brat, so i tend to say what others won't.

how can we learn if nobody lets us know what mistake we've made and are given the chance to correct those mistakes?

just my 2 cents worth.

<Edited to correct my own misspelling in the topic>

<Edited again for yet another typo...thanks Katy for setting me straight...*smiles*>

Your capitalisation is in need of improvement.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 11:41:11 AM)

sorry for the *sub* typing...habit

Alumbrado -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 11:42:57 AM)

My spelling is much, much, better than my typing.

And for some reason, while a spelling error from any other source jumps off the page at me, I can't see my own typos until a second or two after the edit window expires.

'Time you knocked a few heads together to get this spelling catastrophe back on the straight and narrow.

just to let you know im informal- not drunk.

if my posts are ever too punctually correct- then something is up.

the only time i regret a typo error - is when someone is hurt by a miscommunication, for which i do apoligise.

be that as it may- you are stucvk with me " as is "

kittinSol -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 11:47:58 AM)

Uh huh. Sorry's good, but I would like to see it improve nonetheless. While nothing stops you from using 'sub speech', I think it would be good if you were as adamant about correct usage of capitalisation as you are about spelling.

Did I make myself clear? STOMP!

Hmmmm... I am thinking I might open a workshop for male submissives. Hmmmmmm... tap tap tap.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 12:16:47 PM)

alot should be a lot.

I don't think you're a brat.  In fact, I've noticed your attitude change greatly lately.  You are much more fun and positive and it becomes you.

I don't care about typos and misspellings if someone has something decent to say.  When there it's in abundance, however, it makes the post a bit tedious to read, and if I'm tired, I'm likely to skip over it.

Everyone makes typos.  And it's been my experience that often times as soon as I've pointed out a fault to someone, I make the same mistake myself.  It's a really good self humbling experience :)

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 12:52:53 PM)

Personally I don't care if I make typo's or spelling mistakes. And I guess it says something about me, but I really don't care about that either lol.

CuriousLord -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 1:04:08 PM)

Trust me, there're much better things to be learning out there than memorizing spelling.

favesclava -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 1:06:20 PM)

Most of my post have to be edited for spelling. I don't feel too bad about it because English is my second language. Others don't have that excuse.
* this time edited because I didn't hold the shift key down long enough for capitalization *

breatheasone -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 1:10:49 PM)

I have a tenth grade education, and thank God every day for spell check....LOL...i wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle about it hun....just sayin....

kittinSol -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 1:20:30 PM)

Of course, nothing stops one from acquiring knowledge from the myriad of sources out there. It's a question of deciding what interests you.

philosophy -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 1:43:22 PM)

.....i think of spelling as i think of most things. People do the best that they can....effort says more about someone than their ability to excel.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Spelling and online... (8/17/2007 2:07:58 PM)

what really gets me is, dispite those that originally create a thread and misspell the topic, so many out there just let the misspelling go on. i've tried to go around and correct the misspellings as best i can, but then others continue to respond to the thread (skipping over my post with the correct spelling) and allow the typoed topic to go on. what does this say about those who pride themselves in spelling or whatever? maybe i care more about others than most.
