My guess is that the life span will be shorter.  We live in a polluted world such as none have lived in before.  Nutrition-certainly the opportunity for good nutrition is there but is too expensive for many.  I don't think longevity will increase on fast foods, hormone laden meats and dairy items, and frozen dinners, let alone the noodle blocks that most poor people exist on.

I left the store today with two sacks with cataloupe, honeydew melon, bananas, a bag of lettuce, leaf lettuce, fresh peaches, a pack of lean cuisine frozen lasagna, two containers of light yogurt, and very little else other than tp and paper towels for $39.

From what Ive been reading, it looks like 100 years from now we'll have a Shorter life expectancy by about ten years. So if its about 78, it'll be about 68. This is due to the rise in obesity.

I think scientists are calling for a pandemic as well. So the poster who said there would be less population may be right.

I hold out some hope for a pantiedemic

sophia37 -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/18/2007 7:07:37 PM)

lololololol Cant. Stop. laughing. Yes. Pantidemics. I think Fredricks of Hollywood is having one right now during their fall sale.

let's go shopping--- remember---
pinks on a case by case basis, and never purple, that is just fuckin' tacky.

sophia37 -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/18/2007 7:17:01 PM)

OMG! I see the world evolving right before my eyes! We will gradually all start to become a world of habitual shoppers!  Wait a minute. What am i saying? This is a nightmare by anyones standards.

mnottertail -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/18/2007 7:23:55 PM)

No, we will align along a societal standard that says that women in purple sex clothes are just fuckin' tacky.......perhaps in poetry and in the halcyon days of ne'ermore; Poe could have forwarded the notion that Elanor Roosevelt looked devastating in a purple teddy, but the simple fact of history remains that Franklin was out hunting up the 'New Deal', and not using that girl to her full potential; so words do convey actual concepts and word-pictures time to time.  See what I am getting at?

It's true, it's true. We are a nation of consumers, it's all we do. It's a national addiction. I work in retail management and believe me people MUST shop no matter what. Blizzard, tornado warning, terrorist attack, power failure, national holiday, local serial killer. People shop. And they get downright pissed off when it's 11 PM and they have to leave the store.

sophia37 -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/18/2007 7:34:56 PM)

Yes. Youre right. Ive scared myself for sure with the shopping thought. Theres goes all our resources! The worst part of it is, when Elanor wore the purple teddy, she got no feedback, never wore the teddy again, finally threw it out when she gained weight and there it went, right into the landfill. We're doomed.

Maybe if we could get Ron to go and give positive feedback to all the neglected women of the world, they'd start to love themselves, only buy what they need and stop throwing stuff away. Ron! Please save the world! I now see you're our only hope!

We s hould go ask the wizard of oz on this one lol i keep seeing flying monkeys

sophia37 -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/18/2007 7:54:18 PM)

I dont think we should ask the wizard on this one. He was kinda spacy wasnt he? Blowing lots of smoke, making noise pollution, stuff like. Lets ask Dorothy. She was from farm stock. Farmers understand the land and know all about conservation.

Our tongues will have a gritted side so that we can get the bits out of our teeth more easily.

You may not believe me but I have seen the future.

FullCircle -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/19/2007 6:36:13 AM)

In the future our eyeballs will be detachable and wireless so that we can put them on the mantelpiece and perv on people having sex from another room.

You may not believe me but I have seen the future.

Any ideas when the non-stubbable toes are going to go into production?

cuddleheart50 -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/19/2007 6:42:43 AM)

We will all have an extreme form of ADD, as a way to adapt to a world where fifteen thousand things are being thrown at us at once, where information is constantly pouring at us from every which way. It will have gotten to the point where we can watch a TV show, talk on the phone, text message someone, and listen to music all at once, we will have adapted so that our attention can be so perfectly split.
We will also be addicted to extreme forms of speed. Caffeine and B12 will be child's play, as we will grow to need more and more higher potency energy drinks and whatnot to keep us going, to keep our mental faculties tuned on high at all times.
Also, communication will be done entirely by technology. Why? Because it'll be streamlined; it'll be faster, and more efficient.

no fair, you cheated...
we're supposed to be talking about a hundred years from now, not generation Y. :)

other than maybe the communication through electronics thing, think there will be any downside to your scenario? think people can ever adapt to this reality in a healthy way?

FullCircle -> RE: how are we evolving? (8/19/2007 10:31:24 AM)

In the future our brains will be able to receive mobile phone signals directly.

Some of us already have this ability.
