No, THIS is closed-minded:

People who use slave application forms are stupid.
People who use slave application forms should be shot.
People who use slave application forms obviously do not know true BDSM.

THIS is exaggerating:

I would sooner shoot myself than use a slave application form.

Of course, I forgot, no one EVER exaggerates on Collarme.

That's the breaks, Islave: your thread got hijacked by people calling each other names. It happens.

Ummm...you've kinda drifted off into la-la land...

Hyperbole and closed-mindedness are not really related.

One may use hyperbole to express their closed-mindedness, or they can express it in a more literal fashion.

For example:

"I would never use an application form" is an expression of closed-mindedness using no hyperbole at all.
"I would sooner shoot myself then use an application form" is an expression of closed-mindedness that uses hyperbole.
"I have never use an application and doubt I ever would, but life is long and you just never know what is around the corner" is an expression of open-mindedness that uses no hyperbole.

Hope that helps...

1. Charcoal or gas grill?

2. How much of your day is devoted to personal grooming?

3. If you had to burn one book, what would it be?

4. Assuming they had access to and use of modern weaponry, would cats or dogs win World War III? Please provide cites.

5. Couches. Black leather/silver accessories or brown leather/brass accessories?

6. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

7. Do you get car sick? Air sick? Sea sick?

8. Can you juggle? (My father insists we ask all prospective partners this.)

9. Describe the perfect meal. Include recipes.

10. Answer honestly: Do you have a sense of humour?

Ummm...EXACTLY. He was exaggerating; he wasn't being closed-minded. I'm stunned that I have to explain this to you.

And don't tell me I'm in la-la land. Didn't your mother teach you how to express yourself without insulting people?

Ummm...so you reject the idea that one can both exaggerate and be closed-minded simultaneously?

Exaggeration means you have an open mind?

Please refer to my previous post for examples of closed-minded statements both with and without hyperbole.

Funny, but I always thought the idea of a forum was to listen to all points of view whilst expressing ones own.
All I'm seeing here is two people having a private argument and taking no notice of any of the other postings.
Both being very narrow in their opinions.
How about you two getting back to the subject of the forum

Oh--and can we get rid of the quote-- it's getting boring

see-- I can be bitchy to

I have to go out for a little while now so can I trust you two children to play without fighting

Your probably right kitten but it keeps the children off the streets doesn't it.

By the way are you really twisted?

Oh, my God, people aren't paying attention to the subject of the forum! Surely the end of the world is nigh.

Islave, I see that you've been a member of the site for a grand total of five days. Now I don't mean to sound patronizing, but exactly who do you think you are to join a site and tell all the regulars how they should behave during your first week here? Threads get hijacked on here. People disagree with each other. Get used to it.

I'm entitled to a personal opinion, yes?

You are entitled to an opinion - that was just a particularly ill-mannered expression of an opinion.

I disagree. :) Courteously. :)
