There is a chart, which maps and rates the sensitivity or pain level, for tattooing different areas of the body. I've seen this in a tattoo shop, posted for the benefit of the clients. I imagine you could find such a thing online, by searching. Bony places, covered by thin skin, are among the more painful locations to tattoo. So, ankles and tops of the feet are high rated, for sensitivity. Another consideration: Some people's skin takes a tattoo with nice, clean detail, and strong ink definition. On others' skin, the ink will fade or bleed - don't know if that's quite the term for it. I don't know what determines this, but you might ask a couple of tattoo artists. (Oh, I love that moment, from "Airplane!"! I crack up, every time. What the hell ever happened to that guy - so funny and quick. "Steve McCroskey: Johnny, what can you make out of this? Johnny: This? Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl... " ) Interviewer: Why did you get wings tattooed across your back? hyde: Because I want to be an angel.
