I think all of y'all's tats look awesome!

I am too chicken to get one done on me, but I have found that there is one "person" I met just over a year ago that has like 3 tats and I was totally mesmerized by them...  hehehe
(that's my story and I'm sticking to it )

And, I have loved seeing the tattoos posted. Thanks to those for sharing.

What a great idea! I love tattoos. I have three. I got my first almost five years ago and my last two both this year. I'm already itching for another.
This is a bad pic of my first one, which has faded very much from time and the sun.

This is my latest one...the dreaded foot tattoo, which really didn't hurt that bad.

I don't have a pic of my other one right now, but it's a shamrock on my lower back. I must say that one hurt the most, but everyone is different.

*using my secret identity because they STILL haven't fixed my account*......

i can't wait toget another....the knotwork moon/star pentacle on my back that Sir posted is going to have a celtic tree of life above it and the roots are going to form hands that hold the pentacle....of course it's going to cost a small fortune so i have to wait but it'll be worth it.

If I may ask, when you choose to have a tatoo, are you choosing it because of a particular theme... because it simply looks cool... is there any specific reason or is each time different?

I have a tatt, but not going to show it because the guy that inked it was an idiot and fucked it all up.. having said that, I have planned out what My next one will be and it has been designed to cover up the gross mistake that I have.

The new one incorporates several different facets of My life.. things I believe in, things I love and all wrapped up in a tidy "package" representative of My Celtic ancestry. :-)

There is for me....i can't speak for everyone though.  Each one of mine was chosen for a reason, they all represent something, a particular period in my life.  All but 2 of mine are "unique"...in other words, they were drawn by me, or for, me specifically so i would be the only one to have that particular tattoo.

It's also one of the reasons the celtic tree of life i want is going to be so expensive...i have HUGE issues with drawing hands so i have to have the tat artist do that part and it'll cost more.

Ah, so it can be a form of perpetual art on a canvas and not just a "graffiti wall", so to speak.

I am 49, soon to be 50. I had never been interested in getting a tattoo, because it is permanent, and I could not imagine putting a mark on my body that would be there for the rest of my life. However, over the past several years, I've had to have several surgeries, which left permanent marks. Plus, with the Big Five-Oh coming up, I have recognized that time and life are making permanent marks on my body that I did not choose.

So, I decided to put my own marks on me, things that were positive, and that I chose, and will enjoy seeing and showing off. I'd hate to turn my body in at the end of my life, and have folks think I didn't have fun in it. *grins*

I am going to have more tattoos on my back, in a theme. It will be a garden, with bright flowers, and graceful vines. I will have the favorite flower of each of my family members on there, instead of their names.
