And from me, my reaction would be no different. It was offered in the context of a BDSM forum in the "general BDSM" section.

Well, if it hadn't been posted on a BDSM forum in a BDSM context my reaction would be different.

Thank you, I so agree.  I never understood why someone would find a body first, then pound it into what they wanted.  Nilla, or bdsm'wise.. it just seems silly.
When I love someone, I  love them for who they are and what I am when I am with them.
I don't want to change them and make them suitable for me.
And if I am not suitable for someone, things would be sure easier emotionally if he came right out with it early on and said "you aren't what I am looking for".  Instead of making me feel bad for being clay and only worthy of him if he can change my structure.

A lovely story but I don't really believe in being "molded" by my dominant. I will grow with his encouragement and change as I grow. I love that he encourages me to grow, but I don't believe in being with someone for you think they can be as opposed to who they are. I wouldn't want to be with someone who didn't love the person I am now.

I've no issue, except to say that the quotes in my last post are from Jari Renko's English translation of Hagakure - a very good translation IMNSHO - that's to be found at http://users.tkk.fi/~renko/hag1.html

The kanji (the funky foreign lookin' characters) is from the original text of Hagakure. It's often translated as "The way of the samurai is to be found in offering one's life for his master."

Credit where credit is due, and all that.

I offered both as a comment on OP's later posting about the source and context of the original story and it's significance to them.

Me... I'm still happy if they aren't throwing the tea cups at me... and long as I'm happy... ya know.

So, will you take your teacup with one lump or two?

You know, if I had read the story with a religious tone to it, I would have liked it for the exact same reasons I hated it when applied to BDSM.

I don't want to date a saviour, I don't want to date a mentor, and I certainly don't want to date a god.  Or a sociopath with a god-complex.

And it's kind of funny how many people did relate to it as far as BDSM goes...it makes me wonder what *are* you really looking for??

Er, not so much for me... It's kind of obvious, and again obvious as to why they'll be disappointed when they find it.
