SirEbonyPhoenix -> What do you think will be the kink of the future in BDSM? (8/29/2007 8:13:39 PM)

As we venture further into the 21st century, I have to wonder: What do you think will be the kink of the future in BDSM? Could we possibly do things that have never been imagined or thought of before?

Why not? Today, we are doing things that could not have possibly been imagined or thought of ten years ago/twenty years ago; etc.

Personally though, I really have no concern for the future or lack of BDSM . BDSM has existed long before I ever came into existance; it will remain long after I am gone.

People will sit at boxes with screens, much like TV's, with wires and talk about things that they frequently dont with their normal or local friends. They will seek deep into their mind, and soul searching the darkest corners. They will converse, and they will look for others that feel very much the same way they do or have the same ideals. Some will identify as Dominants, some switches and others as submissives or possibly even slaves. They will wander across the plains of the digital~information age until such a time they find a place to gather and call there home.

But wouldn't that make it hard to spank or flog a submissive/slave while floating in the air? Lol

Mm it may seem daring,,,but I predict that one day, people will get off their computers and meet actual humans!
Bwaaa haaa haa yes I am a sickie, but I like to dream big.

Otherwise, I like the idea of holodecks like in Star Trek Voyager, and zero grav sex.

mutual body exchange...maybe? (of course, that might now happen until the 24th century)

Perplex -> RE: What do you think will be the kink of the future in BDSM? (8/29/2007 8:52:22 PM)

we will keep moving to more extreme limits as everyday behaviour, the kink will become the norm to become the boring as jadedness sets in over a generation where nothing but death mildly interests anyone and then we will tumble back into a ultra puritanism for a few generations to start the cyle all over again.

it's already happened in this country in the last century.  If you look at the super-rich during the 20's, as they moved from pillar to post fleeing jadeness their tastes got wilder and wilder and thier behaviour trickled down to the mildly-rich some of it all the way to the middle classes.  Which is what you are seeing today, Paris hilton keeps a shaved basement so every midwestern girl is doing so in lemminglike accordance to what they think they should do...I'm not critizing the behaviour merely using it to illustrate a point....

which is why on this board, for example, you see so many dust ups between the "old guard" (folks doing this for 30 years according to certain rules and methods) vrs. the new comers who are exploring the sudden freedom they have been given.  I'm not saying either group is wrong, so please understand that, it is simply showing 30 years ago you might know 30-40 people into the life even in a city the size atlanta, today you have bondage clubs catering to grandma's 90th birthday party (again nothing wrong with it)

eventually events will drive the majority back to more traditional roles as fear makes them take up old-time values once more hoping old-time stability comes with it, which after Black Friday is what happened in the 20's.  and during the 1880's when a similar depression caused a similar exodus out of excess.

God forbid it might be clicking the red x at the top right hand of the screen and going out to do BDSM in real life LOL

I'll take a stab at this.

The appeal of old fashioned leather, ropes, blindfolds, chains and paddles will never lose their appeal and will always be popular.  However if you want to talk about how changing society will change bdsm, then look no further than how modern electronics and science have changed bdsm.

We can now use things like electroshock dog collars, violet wands, bondage tape and liquid latex on subs/slaves.  We can induce audible sensory deprivation by using high tech headphones.  Hidden cameras and baby monitors can allow us to monitor a sub/slave while we are away.  In essence the mechanisms used have expanded.  Having said that let's look at the future of technology.

Nanotechnology may one day allow us to create programmable nanites that manipulate the pain/pleasure centers of a sub/slave brain, allowing us to punish and reward even more primally than now.

Cybernetic systems currently allow us to implant chips into subs/slave to monitor a sub/slave and tell us where they have been and where, removing uncertainty regarding whether or not an order that has no immediate visible consequence has been obeyed id the Master/Dom is away.  Or brain implants that allow Masters/Doms to control a sub/slave's muscles so thay they are forced to do things.  For an excellent example of such technology I recommend the Gap series of books by Stephen R. Donaldson.

Gene therapy and synthetic skin may allow us to make subs/slaves look more like animals for animal play. Cryogenics researchers can now place people in suspended animation for short periods of time.  One can envision a sub/slave being punished by not being allowed to experience life for a few days or such technologies being used for mumification effects.

Invisibility technology is real science these days not just sci fi.  It will soon allow us to walk a sub/slave nude down the street without anyone being able to see them.  Or sneak up more easily on a sub/slave during a kidnap scene.

Granted a lot of this sounds like sci fi and may not be within economic reach of the ordinary Master/Dom.  Personally I think cybernetics and invisibility will be the ones that will be in our hands the soonest.  From what I read these are the ones that will soonest be usable by the common man and thus the common Dom/Master.

im not sure if anything new will come around, but im sure new ways to do it will. the classics, like leather bonds, ropes and blindfolds wont go away. i think there is something about the baseness of it that will still be appealing even with all the new technology. but i have to say i like the idea of the whole inviable thing......hehe never know when your going to be abducted

My theory is that everything we experience has been experienced by someone else before us, nothing is new, mearly recycled.

Fem-Bot-Dommes.  Of course, people will still complain that they have to pay for them.

Driver1961 -> RE: What do you think will be the kink of the future in BDSM? (8/30/2007 3:53:27 AM)

d He dips His lid to all;

Cyber sex programmable play partners in your own bedroom willing to do everything kinky that you ask, or the robotic but truly interactive love dolls.   Great benefits for all men and woman purchasers........ imagine a cooing love doll "Sir, your cock is magnificent, it's so big!" (really puny) or imagine a Sadistic online Mistress... "Fuck my worthless arse hard with your humongrous cock Mistress, I love it when you use no lube!"

It's quite scary to think that anonymity in one's bedroom will promote some pretty interesting 'Objectification' behaviour which would most likely have negative effects upon personal values and lead to further increase in crime?

wizzard -> RE: What do you think will be the kink of the future in BDSM? (8/30/2007 5:26:38 AM)

How about this;  rope guns, so you dont have to tie them up youself, time saved: 30 minutes, Spanking machines, time saved: 15 mins. Remote controled robotic sex toys, time saved: 30 minutes, Pills or others artificual stimulantes, time saved: hours, Now, What to do with all your new found free time:...
How about some good ol' fashion BDSM, the only way to really please yourself, and your partner,  get out the ropes and paddels, and enjoy taking your time doing yourself, whatever it is that pleases you both.

Hm, i'll have to look into those books, because my thoughts on the topic are on the same lines... If not neural/muscular implants, then possibly an exoskeleton that can be remote-controlled.

i do think electronic toys will become more sophisticated, particularly as it comes to remote-controlled and programmable devices. Imagine a vibrator with clit stim that can be controlled independently... that also has a range of TENS features... all controlled from a remote control (or your Bluetooth phone)... that will bring the pain if the wearer doesn't maintain the proper distance from their controller (say more than three feet, less than six)... The possibilities are almost endless. Of course, some people are already experimenting with them, but i think a lot more will get into the retail world for non-hackers.

And while a lot of people like to trash-talk cyber, i don't think "teledildonics" (Internet-enabled remote stim, with feedback monitoring) is dead... Just remember, fantasy- books, television, MMORGs, amusement parks, video games- represents tens of Billions of dollars globally... Making the fantasy more real can make people very rich
(was it Denis Leary who said that once they perfect "Holodeck" technology society will come to a halt, because being able to fuck Claudia Schiffer in virtual reality without leaving your house will make crack cocaine look like Captain Crunch?)

i also think that there is a lot of potential in alginates and other plastic resins that hasn't been explored... Imagine collars that are molded in place, decorated with almost anything imaginable, that won't rot, absorb sweat, or set off metal detectors, and require heavy cutting tools to remove.  Full-body coccoons that are perfectly form-fitted, absolutely rigid, and removable.  i've got one word for you: plastics. And $200 worth of composite resins sitting in a closet waiting for me to get some free time to experiment...

Unfortunately, i think that the medical industry will continue to use their power to keep a lot of their fun advances out of the hands of the little people... think of how difficult it already is to get things like opaque contact lenses, catheters, intubation kits, general anaesthetics, "truth serums", even needles in some places... [:o] i don't think neural implants will be any easier to pick up at your local retailer, although our beloved government will almost certainly give us the tracking devices...

To infinity, and beyond!

...dave
