Unfortunately, I don't think there's much of a standard anymore. If there ever was one, I would presume it was pretty vague due to the various locations, methods, and styles being taught. If I had to make a best estimate as to why these traditions do not seem to have carried on today I would break it down into the following: 1) Formal instruction vs. informal & no instruction 2) Individuality I would presume Doms traditionally wore something that would indicate the school, house, style, or region where They were taught. As this process still exists today and is a major right of passage, I believe many of these Doms wear these items with great respect. This also means these items are not meant for every Dom. And yes, LordMindParadox wears items to represent His standing, His relationship status, and possibly many other things He hasn't quite explained to me yet. This is a result of His formal training which has made Him what He is today. And even Those who have undergone formal training may opt to alter the items indicating their status by either failing to wear them or changing them in a subtle, but noticeable way. Some people feel that they are an individual and should be able to act however they desire. I imagine some Doms may find a set trend of "Dom fashion" as imposing on Their own desires. Go figure! Anyway, the good news is, there are those of us who can spot a Dom a mile away. I had LordMindParadox pretty well pegged right as He walked through the door. Unfortunately, the problem is, most subs are going to come up and ask you for a dance. So, the better option may be to consider how to spot the subs out there. ~shrug~ LadyMindParadox partner to LordMindParadox
