There are some typical male dom types- the overweight short dom with bushy beard, the really tall skinny type with ponytail and goatee, the typical middle aged guy just hanging out, and the really hot guy who's usually gay.

LMAO....had to laugh at that, it's so true!

i'd say, typically you'd find doms dressed in black....but hey, it's up to each individuals taste in clothing. My former dom use to wear the whole get up...he'd dress all in black, sometimes he'd wear a dramatic fluffy renassaince style shirt or black leather, and it certainly didn't make him appear more of a dom...

..yet, my Master/hubby dresses in regular clothing, He'll attend munchs in a nice shirt and pants, nothing dramatic or extravagant, yet He could never be mistaken for anything other than a Dom .... it's mostly in the way a person carries him/herself, their charisma, their movements, etc....it's not the clothes that makes the person.

Costumes or leather/fetish wear, are fun and all but i just don't think it's essential in order to show that you are either dom or sub.

To the op: not very discrete but have you considered tatooing the greek letter alpha followed by the male symbol on your forehead??? Just kidding but might be a good emblem on your polo shirt. Don't any of you swipe this idea without crediting me for it and sharing all the wealth that results.

ok...went back and read some of the posts...hmmm, think i have a better understanding of what the OP means...

i think (and excuse me if this has already been said as i haven't read all the posts) you can maybe think about getting a bdsm emblem linked to a chain around your neck, or maybe a tattoo? that could be visible to others...if that's your thing... as far as looking domly, i'll tell you what my own stereotypical idea of what a dom looks like....
dark hair, goat-t, black shirt, black pants, black boots, oh, and hair slicked back in a pony tail...lol....yeah, for some reason that's what i picture in my head as a "typical" dom...not the case of course...my Master doesn't fit that description at all yet He's the domliest dom i know!! lol so, go figure!

Hey, earth to uber-doms: your sexuality and leadership virtues are not the same thing (which is good, because most folks aren't imbued with leadership traits).

Now, as to the OP, you have gotten some good suggestions. I don't wear jewelry, other than a marriage ring when I was, so some kind of symbol is it. I wouldn't wear leather or fetish or "LS" kind of clothes because that isn't me - I'd be a poseur.

Despite what my pics here suggest, I don't run around all day with my shirt off flexing and grunting. When I go out to social events, including fetish stuff, I wear custom-made suits. They fit my frame to show me off to my best advantage, and women generally appreciate and notice the quality and cut of clothes, and I think they are as close to "identifying" as I care to wear. Works for me.

I think you prolly have a good, intuitive idea of what you look good in and are comfortable in, and that will help, along with anything symbolic you choose to wear.

You could just wear the BDSM symbol, keyring, ring, necklace...whatever.

It has been my experience that the way you carry yourself, confident. This is how most people, who have a clue... will recognize you as dominant.

No one has ever made the mistake of thinking my Master was anything other than what he is.... a dominant. He's not an overbearing ass either. Nor is he a cranky know it all. He is just simply.... him. He's a t-shirt and jeans guy, he dresses up though (as he sees fit, or the occasion dictates). I enjoy clothes, fashion and whatnot...so I am usually the one picking out his clothes. This is how he does it. I do not tell him what to do... but this is how he set it up from the start. I've taken several outfits out at times, one after the next...until he finds what he wants.

Oh, and please don't let others get you down..or whatever... your question was totally normal I thought....

Please pardon me for saying, but you will also find...that some will gripe...and pick...and have smart assed things to say.... no matter what your orignal post is about. It makes them feel better about themselves. You just don't have to let it affect you. Personally, I just find it funny.

the idea to wear a symbol of somesorts works well..I wear a pin on my purse that had two very tiny handcuffs on it interwoven with a red rose....it gets allot of comments from all the right people....well come of the wrong people for me but at least they are usually in the life style....LOL

I really don't believe that to be the OPs point at all. The OP appears to want to find a way to attract submissives without having to sift through people by means of communication, socialization, etc. He appears to want to hang out some form of "Dom Signal" that will bring the submissives to him. Nothing in his posts about being enigmatic, or trying to be courteous to nilla-folk...so I don't think there is anything here about being discreet.

Personally, I'll stick to talking to people that I consider to be interesting, let them know about my interests, and if they run...hey, at least I had a good conversation and instilled fear into someone.

First ya got us talkin the talk ... then walkin the walk. Now dressin the desss???? Ok who's in charge here anyway??? ROFL !!! Ok serious up here. I for one like dressin up as much as I like my slave to be dressed. The way I see it who we are is displayed in all aspects of our life. For me ... a 3 piece Brooks Bros suit, Armini silken shirt, my favorite wing tip shoes says it pretty well
