Whatever makes you feel most confident is how a Dom dresses in YOUR world. What have you seen someone wear that ever made you think "Wow!!! What a Dom!!" maybe try that. Personally, I am partial to custom suits.. eventually i would LOVE to take a few books by MOEBIUS to the tailor and have clothing made out of them (Worked for Fifth Element)

Whenever I think of Doms the Joker (yes THAT Joker) always comes to mind, and his suit is as dandy as I could imagine. Who are you trying to impress? I remember I had left the country for a few years, and i had just gotten back from China. When I was in China just the woman I had with me let people know I was a Dom. The way she was dressed was all the costume I needed.

Chances are that your Sub/Slave's collar will be a bigger sign of YOU being the Dom than anything YOU can wear. If you live in a place like I do (New York City) or if you live in some other major city, you can put a leash on your Sub (I KNOW you are talking about outside on the street, so am I) and THAT would let everyone know.

On the back of one of my black jackets and a couple of black t-shirts, I have my Iron Bear Logo. When people ask me about it I explain who and what I am.

Dude, your avatar is freaking me out...is that you looking very feminine, or is that a pic of a hot chick?

If it's you, I am gonna be queasy...*smile*..if it's not, do you really think it is an appropriate avatar?

Sure, it's approriate, TallDarkAndWitty. By why are you so worried about appropriateness?

Hmm...I guess I have always understood an avatar to be a graphical representation of the person behind it. Maybe you are just expressing your inner Angelina Jolie.

I guess it is appropriate if you want people to think you are a female, slightly wacko actress...

Edited to add: The irony of a male dom with an Angelina Jolie avatar starting a thread entitled OH, so THAT's what a master looks like! just dawned on me...

"Note to self; do NOT use Taggart as a companion at a horror movie."

Taggart: what else freaks You out? i can look at avatars all day; never been afraid of one.

“Hey, you there!!!! See that guy over there near the bar, dressed immaculately in a designer suit and gold and diamond rings in his fingers? He’s not a Master but a posser, a wannabe. Now look across the room and see that bearded guy verging on looking a tad scruffy, plain black pants and a black t-shirt, with a gaggle of subs standing about him with a glazed expression on their faces and hanging onto every word he utters? That is a Master! Can’t you feel his presence emanating from him? He doesn’t need baubles to show people what he is, everyone can feel it.”

Yanno, i saw this same phenom in litigation and political campaigns. Odd, how people can sense where the Real Power actually lies.

Your sig gave Me the immediate image of people dancing about, filling
a unique, impressive building (the Palace of Fine Arts in SF was actually
the one I saw).....and then I thought - yeah okay, talking about
love might bring one's attention to it, or might distract one from the real
feeling, depending on whether the choreography accented the design or
just made you look at the dancers.

Blessed Be,
DC
