In a recent online conversation a man told me that he was a Dominant coming from a long line of Dominants, able to trace back several generations living the "Life". This to me seems plausible.

He went on to tell me that there are less than 7 % of lifestylers who can claim a similar ancestral Ds link. He knew it was 7 % because many of this select group have gotten to know each other and he has been privileged to see unpublished figures proving such. This part seems a bit less plausible to me but I rarely say never.

I’ve been around a while and nothing would surprise me. Has anyone ever heard of this secret society of BDSMers? Seen any secret documents? I would have asked more questions but as soon as he started hinting that I was a subbie wannabee I kind of tuned out and became more interested in the Emmy’s on TV. But I'll admit I am curious.

People still actually make claims like that? Wow, thought all that had died out and it was time for the Old Guard thing to surface again.

European, Asian now is I think all the rage for locations of all these secret societies these days, it's all the same , its all bullshit. Coming from several generations is entirely possible. I mean even a 1 in a billion percent chance still makes it possible. The Caveat being on whether or not its likely or not, which, it isnt.

Seriously, this kinda stuff been shot down so many times (even if a few well known and prominent websites that everyone knows have been taken in by people like that) .

Can't believe people are still sayin stuff like this actually. Though shouldnt surprise me

I hear of this "secret" society every now and then from online folks who would not be welcome members to the local garden club, much less anything "exclusive".  And just how "secret" could these societies be if these folks are blabbing about them online?  For that matter, how many of these "secret" societies must there be, since they all seem to belong to different ones?

It's rubbish.  A complete and utter lie.  Don't let these folks convince you that "possible" is the same as "plausible" (it's possible that there is a planet made of green cheese, as no one can prove a negative, though completely improbable).

Is it possible for a few generations to be active in BDSM?  Sure, and I know of several personally (mother/son and parents/son).  But even that can go back only a few generations until it predates the documented history of organized BDSM.

You may find this article to be an interesting read (and just not because I wrote it), since it directly speaks to your OP.

Thanks Shadowen and John. I was wondering how I could have missed this secret in all of my years as a kinkster.

I certainly do not doubt that a Ds lifestyle could run in families. But the whole 7 % and unpublished figures is what hurt my head.

edited to say Thanks John, I will read the article you linked.

I come from a long line of bdsm'ers...It's amazing how far back we can be traced......My great great great...........Granddomi was discovered fossilized and entombed in lava from the volcano of Pompeii....He was frozen for all time with his fist up some slaves ass.

Tinman and Mefisto, when you speak of past generations' involvement in the lifestyle I assume you mean more extensive than a typical 50's household, dominant Dad, subserviant Mom?  I grew up in that kind of 50's household but I certainly never came across any implements, and I was a nosey kid.

Did he show you his secret decoder ring and the special handshake?

Like the stories of an organized and regimented "old guard" after the war and the famous hold European "Houses" that go back a millenium the idea of secret bdsm societies with secret information about who is "twue" and who is not is all Bullshit.

Since he claims to know the percentage of bdsm people in his club, he must also then know the total number of people in bdsm...  Ask him where he got that number?

Bill

Aww...so you have used the secert signal to identity yourself as one of the members of the 8 Silent Houses..

The captilization of the word Bullshit shows you are from the House of Bull.

You should know me by my own insignia, Horseshit. MadRabbit is only a code name to instill misinformation regarding my membership in the House of Horses.

I shall be waiting at the docks in the French Quarter underneath the streetlight.

Dont forget the hat and the handshake. I shall be expecting you to defer to me as we both now my Horseshit if far superior to your Bullshit.

Funny Bill, but I don't think we'll be chatting again.  I was rather impolitely dismissed as a waste of time when I tried to explain that everyone is looking for something different and who are we to judge. To him this explanation was the typical excuse of wannabees.

I know I shouldn't let it but that kind of narrow-mindedness really burns my butt.

edited to add Maybe I am being narrow-minded in letting his narrow-mindedness bug me?

Well at least you can sit back and smile at the irony of his last statement. Feel free to chuckle, snort, snicker or fall off your chair.

I would but trust me, you 'd probably be better off if I didn't try and fix your chair. That is of course unless you wanted some sort of frankenstien monster type of chair that had parts of the kitchen sink, the table, the back door....yeah I'm really bad at anything that involves tools.

Yeah.  The "Secret Society of BDSM" (SSBDSM).  There's an elite sect of SSBDSM, secret to even the larger secret organization, "Secrect Society of SSBDSM" (SSSSBDSM).  I'm so badass, though, I'm in my own world-class secret organization that's a subset of it, "Secret Society of SSSSBDSM" (SSSSSSBDSM).  It's hardcore, yo.  Actually, now that I've told you, I'll have to kill you.  Via flogging, of course.

I know my father had a kinky side because I found his stash of porn when I was 8.  It is illogical to say that I am a second generation ds'r as his kink had little to do with my needs.  I was not taught this, it was never brought up, it was not an open desire of his that we children be introduced to bdsm.
It is simply chance.  And maybe a tad cultural, though I can definitely say that my mother was not into bdsm.  Never did it, never would.  She even asked once what an orgasm felt like.  A more, pristine, sexually stunted woman I have never met.  So though his taste in porn went toward kink, his activity did not.

I am very disturbed when people tell me their children do this, as they do this.  I know a "master" who was very open about bdsm with his then 10 and 12 yr old daughters.  It disgusted me then, as it does now.  I did not choose my childrens sexual path, I let them find their own way.  And in this I am speaking about sex and sensuality, not the idea that the woman is to wait on the man, ect.

Did you actively teach your sons and daughter to explore the world of bdsm?
