I do think there is a vast range of opinion on just what is feminine dress and behavior.  Some automatically assume frills and the stereotypical, "eek, it's a mouse!".  Others think of a more "Marilyn Monroe" image.  Still others consider a chaste style and demure behavior.

Personally, I like to think I have a nice balance day-to-day, but I can pull off any of the extremes if it is desired.

When I was thinner I was closer to Audrey Hepburn than Marilyn Monroe - the one thing that contents me with having gained weight is looking down and seeing a c-cup. Where did *that* come from????

I think 'feminine' and 'ladylike' is merely a case of accentuating the positive.  A certain fashion isn't what makes a person feminine - feminine wiles are what makes that fashion work *for you* rather than just buying any old thing off the rack because it looks good on your friend.

But I do think there are timeless classics - skirts and nylons rather than jeans and crew socks, a form fitting blouse instead of a unisex t-shirt, subtle makeup that brings out one's features - for the few women in the world blessed with a perfect complexion, full shapely eyebrows, long lashes and full lips...I hate you   But I do want to contrast 'feminine' makeup with the drag queen or 'goth' look - that in my mind is far too over the top to be feminine.

I do think femininity is about an understated elegance - it's the woman who wears a dazzling necklace and her wedding ring to a coctail party rather than the one who overloads with bracelets and a big fat rock on every finger.  But maybe I'm confusing 'feminine' with 'ladylike' - I'm not sure.

This is one of those questions that can stir things up.  Because for many, being more feminine means to highlight the visual...for others, it is highlighting feminine behavioral traits (or what have come to be seen as traditional feminine behavioral traits) considered by the woman or her partner to be atttractive...for others, it is a mix of both.

Count me in as coming down on the mixed side.  After being married for 17 years to a woman who never wore a skirt or a dress, except to a funeral, I know that one of the things I am looking for is a woman who likes to.   After 17 years of a woman who wanted to be in the garage with me working on the cars but who couldn't do laundry, I want the one who likes to do laundry.

On a personal level, I adore feminine women.  Love them.  I'm simply not attracted to women who don't exude that look where they are unmistakably female.

All I can add to this thread is that he made me buy a white, lacy skirt. White! I can't keep it clean, am afraid to eat anything in it. It's the most impractical thing imaginable.

Thank God it's past Labor Day, the temps are getting colder and I can pack it away till next summer since he forgot to demand I get white shoes to go with it and I will not wear sandals in the winter.

FirmhandKY has never made any demands with regard to how I dress, wear my hair, make-up or any other part of my appearance, though he has occasionally requested I put on something sexy from the rather large collection of lingere that he selected and purchased for me.

He's a very practical person, though, and knows that I am practical and that I will dress appropriately for whatever I do.  I don't recall him ever expressing any kind of displeasure so he either has no overt opinion or is satisfied with my choices.

I do, however, enjoy feeling particularly feminine when I can.  lol.. Of course, I'm always a woman, but the added "softness" of something slinky or very feminine can put me in a wonderful headspace.  Unfortunately, work and life demands keep me from it more than I care.

I'm with you dollylima, I work in construction and if I showed up on the site in my Domme stiletto heeled shoes and a skirt with my hair in ringlets the men who work for me would wonder what the hell I was there for a tupperware party? I dress for the job most of the time, I do appreciate a nice set of heels, a pretty dress and makeup though and when the occasion calls for it, I wear it. Though that is very rare because I hate pantyhose with a passion and heels hurt my feet and I am all about my own personal comfort.

So yeah, I'll wear what suits me and consider myself femme even though others may have their own ideas. But thats ok, it takes all kinds to make a world.

I'm management in a similar "male-centric" industry, myself.  I'm typically dressed very casually in jeans and polo-type shirt with sturdy walking shoes as anything else is very impractical.  Occasionally however, if I've a meeting or am conducting interviews I'll dress in a suit and heels... the reactions usually aren't of the "what the hell?" variety but are much more interesting.

Yes, I have met one, tiny girl, could get away dressing as 12 years old, even when she was three times that age, loved lots of lace and frilly stuff, had all the men panting over her, the sub girls jealous as hell and the Dommes laughing their socks off as she twisted all the men all around her little finger ...

Believe or not, there are many men out here who would like to see more women dressed in a more feminine fashion. Unfortunately the tendency for women to dress in what used to be called masculine clothes is just part of the trend in the US for everyone to dress sloppily. If you want to see what it used to look like when people really cared how they looked, look at some old newsreels of golf tournaments, for instance when Arnold Palmer first began to win or when Ben Hogan was in his heyday.

Is there such a thing as a female sissy?  By this I'm referring to a women who enjoys dressing in the same highly exeggerated "little girl/ultra femme" style that is normally associated with male sissies.  I'm usually good at digging through info sites for answers to questions like this one, but I hit a wall trying to find out.   Logically, there are women who do enjoy doing so, but either the number is so miniscule as to be a very niche thing, or its simply lumped in with something else.  Either that, or I simply don't know what its called in the first place.

I call it "Tammy Faye Baker Play" and yes, it's a hard limit!

I definately think you are running into problems becasue the sissification and femenization IS strictly a male based thing.
Most of the time, when females enjoy going over the top in makeup or whatever, its not considered a fetish. Its just over the top makeup. Nothing unusual and completely acceptable in the general public.
Age play would include the little girl things, and I suppose slutty or whorish makeup could include what you are talking about. Different mindset for females than for males.

What is femine about a woman: the way her hand is on her hip when she is angry at you. The brush of her hand, so soft and gentle. The way she cocks her leg as she sits on a chair. The shy look, with bent head, as she peaks up at you when she is working on something. The walk. The way she curls up in your arms when she is frightened or just wants to be near you. Her smell. The crook of her neck.

That said, a woman in a dress with lace underwear ... can drive me wild.

Yeah, I find it is much more common to require slut type wear, but that's just my personal experience and sadly, a fullbody latex suit is not in the budget

Ach! now this a response I can appreciate..:0)..for me, the wearing of dresses or skirts are situational..and I guess I lack the situation necessary for me to do so..During week, I am in scrubs, or jammies..weekend..jeans and shirt, doing housework, seeing friends in casual atmospheres, or helping the parents out with whatever needs be done..but I still attempt to keep the feminine in some ways ..such as make-up, some form of jewelry,or goofy girly shoes with big flowers upon them....Tempting
