Peta is a misguided organization.....

http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomic.asp

I posted it before...It is not so much that it is a comic book...It is the message in the comic book that taking a kid fishing is a bad idea or that fathers who fish are horrible people....because they are "harming" fish.

It's one thing to have the best interest of doggies and such.....This just makes them look like fanatics and that they have no ability to see the positives in anything outside their own limited agenda.

I haven`t said otherwise.If you think they`re wacky,you`re right!

They don`t want any animal used, harmed, exploited or touched in any way.Nothing, nada ,zip.
Don`t eat`m,don`t shoot`m,don`t skin`m,don`t even milk`m.Nothing.It`s an extreme vegan position, and their right to feel that way.

Soooooo?  Annnnndd?

I couldn`t care less about any of that. They help save dogs. That`s my gig.My choice and my right to do.I don`t think any less of them b/c they make wacky comics.

We coupled up with the Russians,to beat the nazis.Didn`t mean we were communists,or liked Stalin. We had a job to do and we did it.

Again,this thread started with a lie,and that`s what I responded to.
Peta does not do what is suggested on that website.

Peta and their tactics(non-dog related) are for another thread.

I have done, and since your usualy so talkitive on the subject of peta I'd love to see if you've done yours. And is it just tiresome becuase maybe your relizing something or have I just worn poor little you out? I did make mention over and over without question my point in this thread. Weather you feel wrong about the site I used to start it all I don't really argue it, but Im trying to do the right thing here by making people look into it, find the facts, ask questions, maybe do something different.

And with 7 pages of debate, Im pretty happy to think its stirred up at least a few people, if only you.

Not for nothing,we agree on 95% of everything(don`t ask for stats),and are on the same side, really.

I`m just completely offended by the site you posted and other sites, outfits like it.

I`ll be the 1st to admit, that I`m not easy going,or calm, especially about dog rescue and animal cruelty.

Please except my apologies and well wishes.

I accept your appology and as I mentioned really early on in this thread the ONLY reason the website was even posted was becuase before I read that I'd never looked into peta in depth before, I was more concerened with my own animal housing and supporting. So I was shocked and through the time on this thread and my own research into the subject just got more grossly unhappy with peta's ethics, ways of doing things, and how little they actualy do to help the common animal in america. It just seems a bloated waste of 25 million dollars a year.

We may disagree vastly on a few things but like I said already, my entire purpose for this thread was to raise awareness and have people really look into what they might not know about the "for animal" groups in our country. Hell Im thinking of starting my own.

RAR - Real Animal Rights. I may do this in future, Im the sort who likes getting people togeather, to actually help animals find homes, raise awareness for animals actualy being unduely abused, Im not against animals used in medical terms, but VASTLY against any animal being tested for the superficial sake of fashion, makeup, shampoo and other such things. Man Im gona end up on a tangent. But basicly I'll narrow down to this, My idealogy is that we are animals too, and I want people to work WITH the ecosystems around them to be part of a more natural and healthy way of things, yes we eat animals, as do many carnivores, but we also have a choice to be vegitarians, there is never an excuse for an animal to be put in a painfull situation just becuase of our own ignorance.

Bullshit I have no interest in saving animals!

I have an interest in sending money and support the organizations that deserve it and actually help animals. That is not PETA in any way. The only person on this thread who is closed-minded is you with your conspiracy theories about people trying to make PETA look bad.

And again - I am not getting my opinions from PETAKILLS or whatever site. I am getting it from PETA. Their press releases. Their speeches. Are you listening to me? Their offical speeches say, very clearly, that they want to take away all pets, want to stop all use of animals in medicine (diabetics will die), circuses, zoos, seeing eye dogs... And again, those awful "Holocaust on a plate" ads.

We are not so desperate for groups to help animals that we need to support PETA. We just aren't. Send the money to the SCPA - they do more good and will do even more good with the money that PETA gets.

I find it amusing how many people get pissed at PETA for killing cats and dogs who have no problem supporting industries that exist to kill animals.

PETA is an organization of extremists and like all of them, they tend to be a bit nutty.  Frankly though, I would take PETA over a world run by the food corporations like Monsanto any day of the week.

If they were killing dogs and cats to make hamburgers and being honest and open about it, I wouldn't give a shit. I wouldn't eat them, but I wouldn't care.

What irks me is that they lie, convince pet owners that they are do-gooders while they are trying to take away people's right to own pets. Any groups that lie like that annoy me and I would much rather see the support and funds go to groups that actually do what they say they do.

You have a point Michael, though a small one. Most PETA types, and the committed vegan,do not use leather(did someone say vinyl?),or or any animal product,at least not consciously.Whether they are the ones complaining here,I don`t know.

But I think one can eat meat, and wear leather shoes, etc., and not go over board.Which is something people tent to do,even if they`re not extreme.

Some examples: Veal.We eat cows, and have for maybe thousands of years. But we`re so damm selfish, that we gotta have super tender, sweet meat ,ie veal. We(people) always seem to take it a step farther. We take other wise healthy calves and tie them off,to sit immobile, and eat.Until of course, slaughter day.

You can eat beef, and still think that veal production is cruel and wrong.

Here`s another practice,that`s over the top.Way over.

http://www.notmilk.com/killacalf.html

It`s the practice of keeping cows prego,so they produce more milk. They often shoot the new borns,re-prego the cow,and the process continues.

You can be a milk drinker,or icecream lover, and still believe that that is over the top.It is not necessary to "up" production,by this extremely cruel practice. It`s only to make more money. We don`t need to go that extra step.We can do better.

Another example is vanity.
We don`t need to harm and kill animals,to test make-up.
Especially the wholesale slaughter, that happens world wide.
We will always need to test with animals. But only for saving lives and health. Not for make-up.

I  think that anyone should be able to eat what they want.I`m never going to tell folks not to eat flesh.

But we can do a hell of a lot better, than we are,in the way animals are treated and kept.

I don`t want to end hunting. But I would like the critter,to have a sporting chance. These penned in hunting areas,w/ the caged animal releases,is over the top and selfish. And not even close to what my dad would call sportsmanship. You can love hunting, and hate that kind of gluttony.

I don`t want to end fishing, but I hate to see dolphins cut to pieces, just so I can eat tuna.We can do better.

The PETA type,is also prone to go to far(like all humans).Taking a moderate approach(like most people have)and going the next step,to the point of telling kids, that drinking milk=calve shooting.Peta can do better on that shit.

But they save dogs. And that`s the part I like.

They also want to shut down breeders and puppy mills. An extreme position, and will never happen. That is an area, where people can do a lot better, too.

Do you really have to have a new, pure breed puppy?

Is it all that important,to have a puppy, over a mature dog?

Are we so selfish, that we gotta have that "puppy" experience, while wonderful dogs languish at the pound, many on death row?(remember the millions of un-wanted dogs?Don`t forget them)

There`s two really friendly,loving(pure-breed) Labradors at my shelter.A golden and a black. So sweet and playful, and needing love,so badly. What`s wrong with them?

Why are folks so selfish, that they need to support the production  of more and more new dogs?We can do better.

Many of those dogs, end up at shelters.Like the two at my shelter.

Don`t even get me going about dog racing, and how hounds are just things to throw away, when they no longer run fast.I could do another seven pages of posts about that crap!We can do better.Much .much better.

The lie here,is from PETAKILLSANIMALS.com.

No one has proven or shown evidence, that the charge is true. That is,the charge made by PETAKILLSANIMALS.com.

Accusation ,doesn`t equal guilt.

That website makes me think just the opposite.

Yeah, any company that feeds the world has got to be evil

Not evil.

More like greedy, and only interested in the bottom line.
Fuck all the poor slobs who die ,get ill,or damaged from food poisoning or products.

Corporate America thinks that the "magical" market place, will sort out the bad seeds, the ones that poison and harm us.(and kill our dogs.Remember that recent event?)

They don`t want gov. regulators and inspectors nosing around their dirty .filthy, disease ridden food production facilities.
You know, the heavy hand of government, and all the bullshit neo-cons puke?

PETA`s tactics, of secretly filming these unhealthy facilities, have made for cleaner, more humane farms and production facilities, over all.The same with zoos(the little private zoos are the worst)and rodeos.

Maybe not what a PETA whore would want, but a hell of a lot better, then what we`d get,if we left it up to corporate America.
The profit motive is what drives those food producers to cut corners and cheat.Outfits like PETA,keep`m honest,by exposing the bad seeds.Corporate news,is certainly not going to muck-rake.
