Sounds like the KPMG case. The law was changed and the cases were prosecuted retroactively. Their tax shelters were perfectly legal when formed and sold, but later on down the road, without warning there were a bunch of arrests. As the government usually does, they piled up charges and the defendents copped. But if any of them decided to fight I would love to be on the jury, in fact the foreman. I could see it now "Your Honor we do not convict nor acquit, this is jury nullification. This statute is being applied retroactively which is against the law of the land, the Constitution. What they did was legal when they did it. Ignorance of the law is certainly not considered an excuse, but this was compliance with the law, therefore we acquit on those grounds. If they do it again we will convict, but not now". This is why juries exist in the first place. There was a website something "in academia" which had a collection of things that were obscene that were considered art at universities around the US. I wish I could remember what exactly it was, it had some gnarly shit I tell ya. So, it boils down to this. If the grade is not important, do as thou wilt. Submit the "offensive" website as a final project. Let them bounce it. You can decide what, if anything to do about it later. Take the knowledge. If you learn more by going to the class, go to the class. If not, stay home and save the gas. Read the book. BTW, what is the URL of that "offensive" website ? Might be worth a look :-) (starting to think I am a poet and don't know it) Other than that the only advice I have is : 1. You can learn a hell of alot using "View Source" at websites you like. I learned a few tags that way. 2. Never EVER use nbsp. Webdesigners must realize that alot of people are still in 800X600 and I fucking hate having a scroll bar at the bottom. It even annoys me when someone inserts a link in a post that is too long and it causes this. I know it is inadvertent, but it probably can be avoided if the poster names it and uses the a href/ahref, but it is unreasonable to expect everyone to know that. Still annoys me though. If you must exceed 800 pixels, OK I can see that. There are enough people at higher resolutions to where you want it to fill the screen at 1028, or higher. In that case, put all your banners at the right side. A sub-suggestion to this, put one banner at the left from a company that sells large or widescreen PC monitors :-) 3. Don't let this issue bother you. I didn't say that you do, but no matter what happens, don't let it get to you. It's nice to discuss it, get all these opinions, but keep it in perspective. T
