Does what David Brock say or think in any way change the words Rush spoke, as recorded by the UNEDITED transcript?

That's all that matters.

Rush called the first caller, a soldier, a republican, and against the occupation a Phony. Period. And then went and expanded his hitlist of Phony Soldiers, essentially along lines of Political Reliability.

So, what happens when a Rush Believer takes command of a unit? Do they Purge out all the "Ideologically Unreliables", like they did at the department of Justice?

I can imagine those given duty to chaperone the congressional delegates are all proven parrots of the Party Line.

Politesub53 -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 1:05:50 AM)

Owner, firstly i am not American so i dont have a politcal axe to grind as such. Thanks for the link showing the earlier part of Limbaughs comments. Why do you think what i posted was edited ? Or did you just mean the early portion was left off ?

My point is the link i put up included the whole of his comments about phoney soldiers and it seems to me he was just speaking about the one guy. Orion makes a good point on a thread he started about elcetion run ups, both sides of the Atlantic crap like this gets aired, to try and induce us to vote one way or the other. I am probaly more to the right of center and just wish politicians would stick to telling us their policies, than all this mud slinging.

Real0ne -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 1:19:53 AM)

People here whine piss and moan about the nudslinging but it is proven to work over and over again.  Theys calls em hypocrites in ma neck a da woods!

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 6:57:03 AM)

I have googled, read about Brock for almost an hour, including how he first denied connections to Soros, then a couple of weeks later when it was obvious the truth would come out, admitted the ties and turned it around into what it is now. The failed book on Hillary Rodham was when he jumped ship on the right. He stayed with it until there started to be alot of firings of those around him. He had used his advance for downpayments on real estate he would not be able to keep without money coming in. THe Left were about to out him as a homosexual, so he quit his job and had an interview done. Yeah he said he was sorry and it was so wrong, this helped turn things around on the right, and got him an invitation for a face to face with an unknown on the left. After that clandestine meeting, he had a few more meetings and mediamatters was born in the minds of him and some money on the left.

What did he repent against? Lying? He has done that since moving to the left.

What prompted his move from tight to left? A change of heart, or that he was not going to get paid the big bucks he was planning on and he was about to be outed as a homosexual?

Things look too murky for me to believe anything from that website. Just as I do not get things from rep websites, I am not about to believe things from a dem website. I believe the tapes were changed, I have listened to two different audio versions and there is a section in between the two callers that seems to be missing. Who did the doctoring? I do not know, but since it is obvious they were, I will go with the transcripts until further information is released.

I hope it just all goes away, so that more important issues can come to the front, but I doubt it will. Fanatic socialist will keep after the likes of Rush, O'Reily, etc. because if they can silence or defame them, then the Dems have a greater chance of making it to the whitehouse. Making it anywhere should be on princples and answers to the issues, but America seems to be less of a country of ethics and more about personal interest.

Have fun with the mud!

Damn you should apply for a job as a political hatchet man. Do you actually believe the stuff you type? Have you looked into David Brock? So was he lying then but not now, now but not then, or lying both times?

He was outed, failed to hatchet job Hillary, and then jumped ship so he could continue making money. He is a mercenary and either political party that uses him, does so with full knowledge of what he is and what he does.

You seem to perpetuate the smoke screen of non-issues, when everyone should be demanding that the politicians focus on issues.

Orion

He came clean on the Anita Hill book, and has played it straight ,sense then.He has atoned and showed contrition. If you have any examples of him doing something seedy or wrong, say so.Show us.

I`m waiting for examples.Start googling........

Again,Brock is not the source here,Rush is.

What? Because Brock points this out,it`s fake?

Let Rush`s words speak for themselves.

Shall we?

sundownhawk -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 7:16:03 AM)

The call:
CALLER: Yeah, and, you know what
LIMBAUGH: "Save the, keep the troops safe" or whatever. I, it's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people.
CALLER: No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media.
LIMBAUGH: The phony soldiers.
CALLER: The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve. They want to be over in Iraq. They understand their sacrifice, and they're willing to sacrifice for their country.
LIMBAUGH: They joined to be in Iraq. They joined
CALLER: A lot of them, the new kids, yeah.
LIMBAUGH: Well, you know where you're going these days, the last four years, if you signed up. The odds are you're going there or Afghanistan or somewhere.
CALLER: Exactly, sir.

What Limbaugh said after that call:
Here is a Morning Update that we did recently, talking about fake soldiers. This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They have their celebrities and one of them was Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth. Now, he was a "corporal." I say in quotes. Twenty-three years old. What made Jesse Macbeth a hero to the anti-war crowd wasn't his Purple Heart; it wasn't his being affiliated with post-traumatic stress disorder from tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. No. What made Jesse Macbeth, Army Ranger, a hero to the left was his courage, in their view, off the battlefield, without regard to consequences. He told the world the abuses he had witnessed in Iraq, American soldiers killing unarmed civilians, hundreds of men, women, even children. In one gruesome account, translated into Arabic and spread widely across the Internet, Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth describes the horrors this way: "We would burn their bodies. We would hang their bodies from the rafters in the mosque."

Now, recently, Jesse Macbeth, poster boy for the anti-war left, had his day in court. And you know what? He was sentenced to five months in jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans Affairs claim and his Army discharge record. He was in the Army. Jesse Macbeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he washed out of boot camp. Jesse Macbeth isn't an Army Ranger, never was. He isn't a corporal, never was. He never won the Purple Heart, and he was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen. You probably haven't even heard about this. And, if you have, you haven't heard much about it. This doesn't fit the narrative and the template in the Drive-By Media and the Democrat Party as to who is a genuine war hero. Don't look for any retractions, by the way. Not from the anti-war left, the anti-military Drive-By Media, or the Arabic websites that spread Jesse Macbeth's lies about our troops, because the truth for the left is fiction that serves their purpose. They have to lie about such atrocities because they can't find any that fit the template of the way they see the US military. In other words, for the American anti-war left, the greatest inconvenience they face is the truth.

It seems Reid and not Limbaugh is the one that should be taken off the air. It seems some would prefer to remain blissfully ignorant of the facts and would prefer to be spoon fed stupidity by poloticians.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 8:08:49 AM)

All this is a calculated attempt by people like Harry Reid to try to divert attention away from the failures of his congress. Congress has an approval rating of 11%. And part of the reason why is because morons like Harry Reid spend two weeks of debate on a resolution to condemn Rush Limbaugh, a private citizen, for something he did not say.

That sums up this congress quite nicely. It's a farce. And dont fool yourselves. If the Democrats wanted to end this war, they could end it right now. Dont fall for that dumb excuse about not having enough votes. All you need is a simple majority in the House of Representatives to end funding. The House controls the nation's budget per the Constitution. If the Dems want to end the war, they cut the war out of the budget. And if 70% of the nation is as against the war (according to Pelosi's statistics), then this should be easy to end....

Dont let these morons in Congress lead you away from their failures to lead this country.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 8:19:55 AM)

Is not Jesse Macbeth a phoney solider?

He get trumped up as this great Army Ranger by Soros' bunch and then gets exposed on ABC news. Then  he becomes a subject on talk radio which leads to Rush Limbaugh's phoney solider remark.

Is this a fight the lefties really want to take on??? Defending an actual phoney solider???

Why are they not out stopping the war????

farglebargle -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 9:48:29 AM)

Wrong. The "Phony Soldier" Rush ( What's his real name, anyway? ) was criticizing was "Mike", the prior caller, a Republican, a Solider and opposed to occupation.

Go read the entire transcript, it's on the intarweb, and it's clear that Rush was bashing away at Mike first, and then when he got called out for it, tried to weasel out of it.

farglebargle -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 9:55:44 AM)

http://mediamatters.org/items/200709270010

THE ENTIRE AUDIO is here. LISTEN, and then decide if Rush is calling the caller, a "Phony"

Listen to Rush freak out: "As Long As It Takes!"

MIKE "I used to be military, and I am a republican"..

RUSH: And *I* used to walk on the moon!

I think the issue here is that while Rush goes on to further discuss with the subsequent callers the topic of "Phony Soldiers" ( inclusive of Mike#1 ) he's REALLY saying "NO REPUBLICAN CAN DISAGREE WITH THE PRESIDENT." THEN he goes on to suggest that any "so-called-Republican" who *DOES* disagree is crazy.

How do all you republicans feel about THAT?

You're being dismissed from the party for having the bad form to oppose The Party Line.

Ahh ,no ya don`t.

It`s edited.The previous caller"Mike",and his comments,(which the 2nd "Mike" is "retorting to",are gone.Not there,edited out of the "Rush" version.

Why is that?

They`re(Rush`s website) leaving that out, on purpose, and for good reason.

The 1st caller"Mike" was called a phony(in so many words)and insulted by Rush. It`s there, listen to the ugliness of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmWPSjNXsXI

Notice how Rush refused to believe, that the 1st caller can possibly be a republican.Notice how Rush doesn`t respond to anything the caller says, but rather dismisses him.

In response to the caller saying that he was ex-military,and "IS" a republican,Rush says "Yeah, and I ,btw, used to walk on the moon".In Rush`s head, you can`t possibly be a republican (or pro military),and also against the Iraq war.Notice his closed mindedness, to that concept.

Then the 2nd caller(who`s name is also Mike )calls, and says he wants to respond to the previous caller. He used the word "retort",more than once."I want to make a retort to Mike in Chicago",he says.

You can`t listen to the second "Mike`s" comments(or Rush`s),with out including the previous "Mike",because Mike II,keeps referring to Mike I,as does Rush, also.Leaving out Mike I,is dishonest.

So it`s obvious that both Rush and the 2nd caller, are talking about the 1st caller(the one that Rush just put down as fake,Mike I).The 2nd Mike says he wants to "retort"(2nd time) to the previous caller, and to the question of pulling out of Iraq.
Not,(as the Rushies are saying),to the question of media bias or the anti-war left, etc.

Then he makes the "phony soldiers" comment about the 1st Mike.Agreeing with the caller, that only real soldiers should be listened to,and not the "phony solders".

Mike II and Rush refer to those that want out of Iraq(almost 70% of America, and almost half the army) as "these people".

Mike II makes the claim that things will colapse in Iraq and we`ll "have to go back in"in a year or so.He starts out with"what "THESE" people don`t understand, and so on,etc.

Rush agrees ,and says "there is a lot more than that, that "THEY" don`t understand."

Rush says,"what do "THEY" want, with a withdrawal from Iraq?
"It`s not possible to intellectually follow "these people" ,says Rush.

Mike II ,"And what`s funny is "THEY" never talk to real soldiers"

What Rush and Mike II are saying,is that every soldier to criticize the Iraq invasion to this point in time, are "the phony soldiers"
They don`t make any distinctions, of any sort.I repeat,no distictions or refereces of any kind.

Mike II says,"if you talk to a "REAL soldier, they`re proud to serve. They WANT to be over in Iraq.
"Rush chimes in w/"They JOINED,to be in Iraq.Ya know where yer go`n if ya sign up".
Which infers that guys who join up,are auto-matically  in support of the war.See the logic? You can`t possibly be against the war,if you joined the army.Against the war, = phony.Dopey I know, but that`s what we`re dealing with, when it comes to the "neo-con`s"mindset.

What about all the guys who were in,before the Iraq invasion?

What about the thousands of men who went in with good intentions and high goals, only to learn that Iraq is a disaster, and a civil war zone, and that they are cannon fodder?

What about the men and women who know for a fact, that al-queda in Iraq are only a tiny percentage of the fighters in Iraq? And that the real fight, was in Afghanistan/Pakistan.

Are they also "phony"?

It`s obvious,on it`s face ,who and what Rush and MikeII are refering to.

The "they" and  the "those/these people",are America, and the media.
And, the "phony soldiers",are any soldier or vet,who is against the Iraq occupation. This includes alllll those retired generals, and republicans, who are against this illegal war in Iraq.
The "real soldiers" ,are Mike II,and the ones that support the war.

Long after the "phony soldiers" comment,he goes into a rant about a liberal media conspiracy which includes Jack Murtha,Macbeth(who is unknown and irrelevant)and other people, that Rush considers to be part of the "anti-war left".Those comments are un-linked the the "phony soldiers" comments.
They  aren`t connected with the "phony soldiers" call, but said much later in the broadcast.

  Rush doesn`t say,"this is the(singular) phony soldier I was referring to before(w/ Mike I and II),when I said,"phony soldiers(plural).

To the average Joe and Joanne, this may all seem pointless and silly. When you hear two people argue from afar,it`s hard to tell who the ass-hole is,and who the good guy is.Hell, they both might be ass-holes.

But words do count.Rush is a very influential and does a lot of damage, along with Fox News, etc.

That`s why they`re scrambling to cover their asses.

All I ask is that regular people listen to the tape, and make your own mind up,about who supports our troops, and who the phonys are.

The ditto heads aren`t going to get it.And that`s cool.That`s why they`re called "cool-aid drinkers",or said to be"drinking the cool-aid".

I light of the other denigrations that Rush has made against soldiers Post #: 54, it`s clear that Rush`s support of our soldiers is conditioanal.

Rush does a lot of damage but Moveon.org's ads do not? I wonder why that is....maybe because Moveon owns the Democratic party? Possibe?

luckydog1 -> RE: Rush limbaugh calls troops against war, phony soldiers (10/4/2007 11:11:14 AM)

But Owner is simply lying.  The phoney soldiers comment was in the same segment and call as the discussion of macbeth.  You are posting clips in which you clip the call.  The first one you started with even had the break moved up.  There is nothing at all wrong with calling someone a phoney Republican.

Why are you not posting the clip of him calling someone a suicide bomber.  You did claim he said it.  Now admit you are incorrect and were pushing falsehoods, or stick with it and be called a liar.

A single,one page advert,by a single liberal group.lol

Compared to almost 20 years of 3 hours a day ,of the most wacky right-wing bullshit, broadcast all over America and the world.

The MoveOn ad was bad,but the difference here,is quality and quantity.

And, MoveOn owns the democrats?lol. That`s a good one.
No one outfit owns the democrats. It`s like herding a bunch of cats, the democrats, lol.

If it bothers you so much, why do you listen to him? It's a free market. Just switch the dial.

The CEO of Clear Channel has already stated that he has reviewed the transcript, found nothing wrong, and that he will defend the first amendment rights of all his company's contracted talent. So the Senate can condemn all they want. They have no power over who Clear Channel hires and the Senate cannot control the media. And with a listener base that is around 30 million right-wing conservatives... he wont lose any of those listeners so his sponsors wont be leaving.
So, not quite sure what Harry Reid and the Dems are trying to accomplish by spending two weeks of senate debate on an issue the senate has no business in and has no power over. It's a political stunt is all it is.

And yes, Moveon does own the Democratic party. Moveon's chief financier is George Soros who is responsible for nearly a 1/3rd of the money that Democrats raised in the 2004 election. You think the Democratic party would do anything to upset George Soros or moveon.org? That was proven two weeks ago as Democrats were refusing to condemn moveon.org's ad.
Follow the money.....
