Well….. most of former Wal-Mart employees I know all seem to be susceptible to indoctrination and cult-like thinking practices{Surely the mentality of a slave/servant}
Yanno – Like the Wal-Mart hierarchy claims a special, exalted status for itself; preaching to its sales associates a polarized us-versus-them mentality....

Wal-Mart started out like most bussinesses did. It was one person with a dream who got a $30,000 loan from a bank and then built his buisness with hopes to prosper. Yes, Wal-Mart has beaten competition. Many blame Wal-Mart for putting there companies out of buisness. But who's fault is that? A business can only prosper by consumers.

Is Wal-Mart evil? Hell, is Star Bucks evil? No and no. It's just buisness plain and simple.

I do not know where you got your information about Sam Walton and a $30,000 bank loan.
This gives a pretty extensive explanation of who did what to whom and who got lube and who did not.

Um, don't work there maybe? Almost every company contributes to the Chinese economy & globalization in some way. It's called maximizing profits, and it's what business is all about.

Wal-Mart is a good place to shop if you're a single mom like i am on a budget.

however, there are many others here who would have you believe it's an evil cult gobbling small businesses and turning millions of people into mindless followers that worship the smilie face.  *rolls eyes*  whatever

It's the most poorly run store imaginable. That's for sure. Shop Target, pricing nearly as good and service a thousand times better.

I absolutely agree with you that the consensus encyclopedia is not the most accurate source...so I implore you to bring us some enlightenment.
So far we have one opinion and one possibly questionable source.  We all await the results of your further research in this area.

Interesting note on wikipedia these days - Being among the most peer reviewed source there is, often more peer-reviewed than most scientific and other scholar-like papers, lends quite a bit of credence to wikipedia being a lot more reliable than people tend to give it credit for.

Okay, I will.

Employees of Wal-Mart! Are you getting screwed by your employer? Yes, you are? Well that's your fault. You are the ones who went there, bent over to fill out the 120 questionare on if you do drugs, and took it up the ass. You went, you applied, and you accepted the terms in the interview and HR. So shut up and stop your bitching. No one is forceing you to work there.

China and globalization. What does that have to do with Wal-Mart being evil?

People of the world. When it's your money, where do you shop?

Face the facts, it's common sense to buy your products from the cheapest seller. Most of us go to the pump selling the cheapest gas. Most of us compare prices before choosing insurance. Most of us will see who will mow our lawns for the cheapest price. Most of us will compare car shop prices before getting an oil change. Why go to game stop for a video game when it's $20 cheaper somewheres else? It's human nature to go where it's cheapest. Industries in China  manufature and sell products cheaper than most. It's only logical to buy from the cheapest.

That's business.

I'll tell you what I told the other guy, you're the kinda POS that would blame a rape victim for acting sexy. Just because there are people out there willing to take it up the ass doesn't mean Wal-Mart isn't any less evil or fucked up for giving it to them. You DO realize of course all these people would work somewhere better than Wal-Mart if they could? Do you think they woke up one morning and thought "hmm I could be a Bank President, but instead I'm gonna go work for Wal-Mart because I'm an idiot like that"? No, people work at places like Wal-Mart b/c they have no choice in the matter. And Wal-Mart are fucking bastards for taking advantage of the position those people are in to screw them over. I don't care if its "business". FUCK business. Business is whats wrong with this country. The almighty dollar is more important than human well being.

HA! No surprise, you're from my "beloved"(I say this dripping with sarcasm) home state. Another right wing, laissez faire asshole from here. Nothing new. Typical, clueless white collar jerk.

[/quote]

Whao. What's with the flamming and name calling? I thought we where having a "discussion" and not a name calling judgemental yelling war.

I had no idea I was a pice of shit who thinks rape victims are raped because of how they dress and act. I'm a clueless white collar jerk?  A right wing laissez faire asshole? Where do you get all this info about me from? Did you wikipedia me?

So what is wrong with Wal-Mart? It follows all the labor and consumer laws. Most employees are paid over minimum wage. They offer bennifits, promotional opprotunity, and education programs including tutition assistance. How is Wal-Mart forceing people to work and to buy from them? Who are they taking advantage from? What consummer business would make the community better? No one including yourself has to take one step into Wal-Mart for a job or to work.

Name me a grocery store or gas station that pays it's employees better and sells most of it's products cheaper? The Dollar Store or Big Lots might be possible but I don't see better bennifits and wages for it's employees.

Either way, everyone has a choice to apply for work. No one has to work. We only work to get the things we want.

If you ever have the chance to run your own business, let me know how it goes.
