I am reading Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking”. There is a lot of good stuff in there. The book places a lot of emphasis on prayer, and in particular, Christian prayer. God is always referred to as “He”.

I am not very religious though. In another thread a Domme, in reply to a believer, said that she appealed to a Goddess for inspiration.

I don’t know if I could plug into the concept of a Goddess. A Goddess seems like a counterpoint to God. Goddess is a gender word. God, if he exists, is male, and Goddess, if she exists, is female.

Gender and procreation are inseparable, I think, and so a gendered Goddess or God  must have sexual organs, and presumably sexual urges. If God and Goddess co-exist, do they get it on? If there is only one, Goddess or God, does he/she masturbate? (Could thunder be God(ess)'s orgasmic moaning?)

The personal God has always puzzled me.  Is there a God beyond God? Beyond masculine and feminine?

I know this post is kind of sophomoric, and does not seem to belong on a bdsm board, but bdsm is ultimately a play on gender. Doms and Dommes are gender writ large, while the subs play out there own gender strategies.

It was just on my mind. If it is too off topic or provocative, I apologize.

I would think "God" would either be asexual or a hermaphrodite.

Most of the time I think of "God" as gender neutral.  appearing as ethier, depending on what the individual expects/wants to see.  Unless I am doing a spell or ritual to a specific deity.

There is no such thing as God.  It's all a big fat lie.   She was just a woman who was pregnant and in those days if you were pregnant and not married they would stone you to death.  So she made it all up to save her life.  And the earth is not flat.
Remember we were stupid enough to believe that?.

God might very well be "male"...Who else would create such a huge universe?....Kind of like the dude that drives a corvette. Obviously compensating for something......

God:  Okay...So it could be a little bigger....Have you checked out my universe?

Is it not tempting fate a bit-to try and stick the Divine into a neat little box? I prefer to avoid this sort of thing..........

God is God-and I am happy with that.

I agree with LadyLynx here.  I feel that "God" is gender neutral, having an equal combination of both Female and Male energies.

And when doing spell work, I call upon a variety of different deities.  Some male, mostly female tho.

Christianity prays to a trinity of Gods... Father son and holy spirit, most religions seem to refer to God as male.

As for the question of if they masturbate or not, that got me thinking and i will never be able to be in a thunderstorm, without wondering which Domme from this board is having an orgasm

Moses asked God, "Suppose I go to the People of Israel and I tell them, 'The God of your fathers sent me to you'; and they ask me, 'What is his name?' What do I tell them?"

God said to Moses, "I-AM-WHO-I-AM. Tell the People of Israel, 'I-AM sent me to you.'"

Definatly sounds Like a D for sure. Gender neutral though.

I tend to subscribe to more of a "Great Spirit" concept of God. Like that of Native Americans and other native or tribal peoples. I don't think "God" has a gender because I don't think God is a specific entity but more of a universal energy or awareness. Sometimes I still imagine God as the benevolent grandfather I knew as a little girl raised in a typical Christian environment, but that's just so I can put an image to something so abstract. Not because I really believe it.

Does God masturbate? Yes, that's what caused the Big Bang.

I try not to place the Divine into a box, especially such as small one that a mere human being could understand. I start by refusing to use any terms that might be gendered myself.

i feel God is more A sexual if anything if we had to apply that word sex to God.  i do feel that the masculine and femine sides of God are equal to God like or left and right arm are to us.  i feel it is man who places one of these sides above the others as a way of gaining more control and power in this world.  If God is known to only be male then the men on this planet automatically by birth has a leg up on women.  i feel the term Goddess is just another name for God as in Alpha and Omega, Chief Corner Stone.. ect.  i feel it is man who divide God into religion, sexual orientation and other things to suit his/her own personal needs.

If i had to chose i would say God was Female because God gave life to the world the way Women give life in this world however known of this is possible without both sexes.

I have always believed that God is neither male nor female, but both. So a person can give them whatever name that fulfills their own need. I use the word Goddess because to me most women create life and nurture it.

God is no gender and both genders all at once.

I mean, what do you expect from an entity that uttered the phrase, "I am who I am," ? :P

goddess is definately female.  Don't capitalize her name.  she's a slave.  One who's currently cleaning up the results of that messy BJ she gave me.  she choked on it, that whore.

On a side note, I assure you, there are better ends to use a curious mind on than trying to better define a broken superstition.
