Do the terms Domme and Domina have different meanings?

Personally I like hearing the word Domina because it sounds more feminine and in Latin it means:  Mistress of a household; a female ruler or controller.

Anyone recall the character Atia in HBO's Rome series? She was called "domina" by her household slaves.

What term do you prefer and why?

Helena

In certain SM/BDSM traditions, Domina and Domme have different meaning for rank Training.  In the Dominant Training system, the titles range from Top, Lady, Domina, Domme, Mistress, Grand Mistress, Goddess (of which Goddess is the highest title), in some American and European traditions.

Domina in Latin means Mistress in certain countries and traditions.

I personally reserve the title Mistress for those who wear My collar or are under My training as it is respectful.  If I am seeking potentials or amidst a gathering in a community, I prefer to be refered to as Ma'am if they are not collared.

What those who answer to me call me depends on our relationship, and how they serve me.  In general, I prefer Miss, Lady, Ms., or Ma'am - calling me Mistress sets my teeth on edge.  And I tend more to refer to myself as Dominant or Dom, rather than worrying about adding extra letters for gender's sake.
