I am very nearsighted, as in, -4.25 in each eye. What that means to those that don't know, I can't walk around the house or watch tv or drive or anything else without glasses. I have both contacts and glasses because I gotta take the contacts out sometime and I still have to see. Contacts are wonderful! Just like having normal eyes. I've worn them since I was nineteen years old. Glasses are, honestly, a pain in the patootie. I get the ultra thin lenses, because if I don't, the glasses are so damn heavy on my nose they give me a headache. Currently, my glasses are a thin, dark bronze/brown, rectangular and rimless on the bottom. The one drawback to them is that the lenses are easily knocked out. It takes a few minutes of holding my tongue just right to put them back in. I feel more attractive and sexier when I am wearing my contacts. However, someone I was planning to meet said, upon seeing a pic of me wearing my glasses, that I should definitely wear them to bed ;) Aileen, you need to do what is comfortable for you. If the idea of contacts squicks you out too much, skip them. However, I can tell you from experience that it's not what you think. Glasses can be sexy, but you have to make sure that what you get is sexy and will go with everything you wear, or buy more than one pair. The other drawback to glasses is that you can't wear sunglasses when you need them. Yeah, they make those clippie things, but they are not a good option. There are the Transitions lenses, but they are mucho expensive. The magnetic lenses are ok, but it makes the glasses heavy on the nose. Anyway, just do this when choosing your frames. Take someone you trust with you. Wear your hair and makeup like you ordinarily would. Try on LOTS and LOTS of frames and look in the mirror every time. Sometimes what you think looks good on you, doesn't...and what you think wouldn't, does. Go figure. Good luck with it!
