I think it depends on the person. I am a christian and to ME it would be asking to much, and I wouldn't do it. Religion is one of those "untouchables" for me.

If you are having issues with it, I would suggest you talk with him about it. Good luck.

I am a Christian too, and I have no trouble differentiating between myself and God. Remember, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" does not mean "Thou shalt have no other gods, no, not even ones after me".

Everyone has their own interpretation of the Bible, and some take it at it's word. Notice I put emphasis on the ME aspect of my post.

While you may believe the it is okay to have other gods as long as they are put after God, I obviously do not. To each his own.

Once again, religion is one of MY boundries.

Nor Am I criticising your beliefs, simply giving my viewpoint and explaining why I feel it is okay. If it isn't for you, it isn't for you.

To explain better (my understanding and position):

There is only ONE "God". That is to say,  a singular divine being. Calling someone a god or goddess - unless one truly equates them in their heart with a real divinity, and worships them as a genuine God - regardless of the degree of worship involved is harmless. It's just a label that expresses our feelings toward that person, not ascribing a spiritual or divine aspect to them (although some of things they do might seem divine ;) ). To me it is more important what your intent is, and what you think and feel in your heart when you use the word, than the fact that you used a word.

I call my brother a "bastard" a lot, but that doesn't mean I believe him to be illegitimately fathered - in context it's a term of endearment between us.

Oh no that makes perfect sense! I took your first response to me to literally. I get what you are saying though. In that context, yes I could "worship" someone.

It was the comment in the original post that pushed my boundries. I couldn't take someone making my God out to someone I should place beneath him. It just wouldn't work.

Thanks for taking the time to further explain : )

disclaimer, i have not read the whole thread and i am not going to...this is one subject that is not up for debate or discussion with random strangers at this point in my life...i just wanted to throw my two cents in...

i lived my life following my own will for way too long, i now try to live by God's will and i have figured out that i can fuck things up in an instant just let me let myself take back my will...so how does that figure into a power exchange relationship?  I look for a Dominant that aligns his will with God's will so that when i align my will with my Dominants i am aligning my will with God's...and in my order's to "protect the property at all costs" even if that means protecting it from the owner...if my Dominants will deviates from God's i will keep my will aligned with God's until my Dominants will returns to aligned with God's rather than following my Dominants personal will...because my Dominant is human...not God....

lots of purrs

i think they just say that to make you think..it's kind of like a mind fuck, to get you to think before you speak or act etc....it just depends on the context of how it's said but in any case I highly doubt that they actually think they are God, and if they do they have some serious issues beyond having a big ego.

Who is this 'God' person you speak of?  Sounds like some uber dom who doesn't use safewords and has little respect for his subs.  If he's been around a while then I bet he isn't getting the tribute he used to, now that people are starting to wise up to his game.

Shira,

way too far, there is only one and they are not him/her.
