yes. mainly cos it flies in the face of bush=- and while i dont know anything about climate change- i can tell acid rain is the problem here in Pennsylvania!

be that as it may ALL coountries must be involveed in a cleaner planet as it does not stop at a nations boundary.

It's just like pahunkboy's post of the day award. It's theirs, and they can give it to anyone they please. So sure he deserves it... even if his flaky film is full of lies, and it has everything to do with politics, and nothing to do with peace.

Has he invented anything other than opinion? Is there a category for opinions, I’m not sure how it works these days. Maybe they are trying to sex it up like the Oscars? Mind you it’s a bit of an enigma that it’s called a peace prize when the person that created it invented dynamite. Then that’s why he created the peace prize I suppose isn’t it? Guilty conscience. Is the word conscience formed from the term; con-science?

I do aknowledge Gore's efforts in environmental issues and I do believe he's worthy of a praise for that. However I don't quite see the connection to him receiving a peace prize.

If he would practice what he preaches, then sure, I can see a prize being awarded. Let's not forget that his documentry and opinions also earned him a PhD in Meteorology. So much for college. Who would have thought that you can earn a PhD by making a movie?

Either way, it only matters what the Peace Pannel Committee thinks. However, I think it's only fair to also award the producers of the History and Discovery Channel. After all, there enviromental awarness films offer more information about the environment and all the reasons for it's changes in climate.

One doesn`t necessarily need to earn it or have a vast background in the subject,to be awarded a "honorary degree".Just so you know.

Giving out honorary degrees is only really a publicity stunt for the academic establishment concerned. What better way of attracting students than to give some famous person a meaningless award. It’s the same reason that certain people are given freedom of the city of London which means they can herd goats across the various river crossings. The title is meaningless but it links the awarding body concerned with the viewpoint they are aiming for to promote themselves. I didn't think the people awarding Nobel prizes had to follow suit this way.

This is a typical response from one who either doesn't know how to argue a point, or has no point to argue.

A attacks X
B doesn't like that
Instead of defending X or discrediting A's argument, B tries to go off-topic and attack Y.

Criticizing Y has nothing to do with defending X or discrediting A's argument, thus B reveals self as butt-hurt over the attack on one of his (party's) beloved heroes and tries unsucessfully to deflect the issue.

Hence, one chief reason why I have been silent over almost all 500 of your Bush-bashing slumber parties here.
