I prefer fine rope (clothesline ftw) or chording, specifically because for me, it's all about the amount of time invested in the knot tying and over all appearance of the rigging. I LOVE the look of well tied knots. Leather has a nice feel, but ties ugly, and chain is cold & unyielding (not like me at all!).

I have a set of hospital restraints that have a heavy grade velcro closure (as well as a cloth strap). They're actually pretty damn secure. :)

For me, its definently chain. Something about the cold or hot of metal just has a different feel in my hand, and it just feels so much better that rope IMHO. And lets not forget about the click of a padlock in chain that makes a good submissive shudder so well (and yes, I do have bolt cutters and pliers in the toybag just in case). And don't forget the decor aspects of chain - the first time my submissive saw my bed with chain running parallel from the canopy and toys, cuffs, and other instruments hanging down was quite an experience indeed.

Now, if only the chain folk would post a good tutorial site about chain and how to play with it safely I'd be all set with my full metal set of toys (handcuffs, cane, paddle, flogger, cable flogger, and 9 different types of chain.) If there is one, please let me know - it would make my week.

While I love the smell, touch, and even the taste of leather I will have to say rope is the king of bondage equipment.
Running a close second is the good ole mental bondage and mindfuck.

Rope in all forms ,shabari ,suspensions ,hog ties ,atached to fixed objects ,in all thickness's sizes and texures .
After that a very close second would have to be cling film or pallet shrink wrap .the cheater but still great would be the latex vac bed .
