Status: offline 		I am sorry if this has been discussed many times before.

What I am curious about today is how money is handled in a 24/7 Master/slave or TPE relationships. I know that everyone will have different ways of doing it but am just curious. I have read some things where the Master controls all the money and other things where the slave takes care of the budget and paying the bills.

In Our household my Daddy controls the finances, he allows me to do some wor from home, but mostly i am a stay at home slave and he takes care of all of the money stuff.

Yes thank you for that oh so helpful answer I am well aware that money (and everything else) is handled the way that the Master wants it to be. What I am looking however is how people actaully do it as i am interested in the way things work in different relationships and in relationship dynamics.

Status: offline 		I have my online business and any net profits I have go to the House account. He then takes care of all the bills and gives me an allowance from there. As for my business account I deal with that myself, but he is a wise man when it comes to money so I often ask for his opinion.

Now with all that said, he has taught me how to handle money in case anything happens to him and he passes away early. ::Shudders:: In our way of thinking while the Lord of the House deals with that, someone needs to be trained to handle money matters for the day he passes away, ........... like we all will.

Sorry if thats morbid.....................its also just true.

Pretty much the only answer you need.

In our case I handle all the money including the finances related to my Masters business but then I am an accountant so it makes perfect sense. What matters is that it is his choice that it works that way.

Actually i handle all the bills and finances but we discuss any major decision.

I am sorry if i offended you. It gets quite frustrating to run in to the 'however the Master wants it' response as often as it comes up here when one is looking for insight in to how it is done in other relationships.

It doesn't always work out.  For us it did not.
He needed to plan for his future, and have a place of his own.  I feel the same way.  For now, financial ties are off.  We help each other out as a normal relationsip would.
The general rule of thumb is that the Dom/me is handed the check over to pay finances and gives their sub/slave an allowance.

lam's answer is spot on. in our case, partly because we do not live together, my master doesn't manage my finances (although he does monitor it to a small extent). when we live together that might change, but given the fact that he does not enjoy micromanaging and also because he wants me to be able to be self-sufficient, it would not surprise me if he chose to have separate bank accounts still or something like that. because he is fairly comfortable and my financial situation is very difficult, he takes care of expenses when we are together - food, toys, etc. but for the most part we both pay our own bills and budget our own money because that is how he wishes it to be.

Exactly, just like everything else is handled the way that Master decides.  In my case, my Master has helped me to better secure my financial future, in the event that something happens to Him.  One of the first things that Master David did for me was to insist on and to help me obtain a good life insurance policy that i could afford so that my 2 offspring would be taken care of, in the event that i die.  He has also helped me manage my pension better.  He also made me the sole beneficiary on His life insurance.  He takes care of handling all the bills, with the exception of the few that i had, prior to becoming His slave.  Since i have health care through the V.A., He didn't need to make any adjustments there.

Status: offline 		As mentioned by many, the financial responsibilities vary per Master’s desires.  Personally, when I am wealthy and budgets are of no concern, I delegate the duty.

And very wise man is He. My mother's marriage ended with the death of her husband (car accident) leaving her with 3 young sons to raise in the late 1960's.  A few years before, her husband (a plumber by trade) hit his head on the corner of a cabinet and was out of work for nearly 3 months. The moment he went back to work, he sent her back to college saying that if anything should happen to him, he wanted to know that she and she alone would be able to care for the household.

He died three and a half months before she graduated with a degree in education. She became a teacher and worked even after she married my father. 

It's one thing to hand financial responsibility to your Master/Daddy, yet still know where everything finacially stands.  It's another thing to hand your $$$ over and then stick your head in the sand.  When everything is said and done, there is no excuse to say, "But...but...i didn't know!"

That's pretty much how it works around these parts. I'm an authorized agent. ::grins::

Himself and I have a joint checking and savings account. I have a 401k that I designated to my children before I was collared. His 401k & life insurance is to come to me in the event of his death.  He has also stipulated what goes to his daughter and it's my job to make sure that he final wishes are carried out as I am his executor as he is mine.

We have a joint checking account as well as a joint savings account. I am unaware of any other accounts he may hold as all the household bills are paid through the checking. He decides the charities to which we donate and for those which interest me but not him, I volunteer some of my time rather than any of his money.

He has authorized me to pay all the bills out of the joint account and expects me to keep our credit rating perfect as well as save for vacations or any extras he may desire. If he wants something, he buys it but he will ask which credit card (if it's more than a couple of hundred dollars) is best to use since I do take care of that for him and know the cycles, rates and what not. Hope that helps.

Status: offline 		In My household, all income is handed over to Me, and as an Accountant, I pay all expenses, make all investments, and maintain accounts and insurance for My slaves. No one is left worrying about the "what if" scenarios. Having Me take care of all the finances, takes the stress off the boys and they have more time to spend working or serving.

Since I manage all My clients' finances, it's just a natural continuance here. And as the Owner, and the one who wears the stilettos in this household, it's all done as I desire

I am by nature a spendthrift.  She is much better at managing money wisely.  We have joint checking and savings, she pays the majority of the bills out of the checking account, I pay some of them.  My children are the beneficiaries of my life insurance, since janey is childless, I am her beneficiary.  Once both of my children are out of college I will adjust my beneficiary status so that janey gets 50% and my children will divide the other 50%.

It's a no brainer to let her manage the budget, she's a lot better at it than I am.  She keeps me current on balances and things like that.  If I want that $45.00 skeleton I found at Spencers (marked down from $69.00!  Hey!  I know how to shop for a bargain when I need to!) to use as a Halloween decoration, I get it.  She clears impulse spending with me first.

Status: offline 		Right now because I'm a student in college I don't have any money of my own. We do have a joint checking account and he has given me a nice chunk of money that is in an investment account. That is for in case something happens to him, so I can finish school and be able to support myself until I start working.

Once I do start working I'll turn over all my money to my Joe because I don't want to deal with it and he is so much better with money issues. Most of my money will be saved for my retirement and the rest used for our living expenses. We plan on buying a house once I'm working in my chosen career.

I do get a weekly allowance that is just for my personal use. He frowns if I use it on the UM because she gets her own allowance and shouldn't hit up mom for more money.
