I'm a guy. In the early days of my membership on this site I had a bare-chested picture. I thought I was clearly male. Apparently I was mistaken for the flattest, hairiest and flat out ugliest woman ever.[:D] They stopped when i posted a cock shot. I guess they could not be bothered to read a prospects profile. Let's see if I remember, there were usually properly addressed, if my name was "bitch", "slut", or "cunt".[:)]

Well, i'm not sure if it is BDSM trolling, or just vanilla trolling, but one red flag for me is the "What are you wearing?" which is usually going to be an athletic suit, or a nursing uniform, and since my computer is in my living room, and i have children, i am going to be fully clothed. However those questions are a happy way of eliminating folks. Two of my beloved Doms didn't even request a picture, which i think is risky, but they were very intuitive, and trusted what they felt. lucky for me. bijou

Well, there is an old saying from way back when that I have tried to look at many times and figure out if it was mean't for me. The saying is, "Good guys always come in last place." There have been so many times in my life, involving women, that I was thrown aside or passed over because I was what I was taught to be, polite. When in reality, talking to some of the women afterwards I found out that if I had been not so nice and polite or had been more "crude" in my verbage or physical actions, I would have won the prize. Looking at some of the people that actually did get the prize I feel that may have been a true statement. Trying to talk with ladies in the lifestyle online has almost been as challenging sometimes. I never try to be rude or crude and always treat them with respect......knowing that some are cruder or ruder than I have ever been and have done more than I will probably ever get to do. I am just wondering, IS there a Proper way to act online that is agreeable with most. Oh yes, one final thought on that......two ladies questioned me about whether or not I was a real Master because I didn't capitalize the letter M and I told one that I did not like being called Sir unless I was her Master. So, everyone has a different boat I guess.

I just put a little rant in my journal about this same issue - etiquette and how some Dom(me)s expect everyone they meet to bow and scrape and capitalize every pronoun related to them, but think it's ok to be rude to every sub they encounter. IMHO that's not classy or acceptable behaviour at all, that's the behaviour of a troll with an inferiority complex. I think everyone, Dom or sub, deserves to be treated with at least the basic human kindness and respect, until their behaviour deems otherwise. LT

Yes, there is a proper way to act online, but you and the recipient are the one's who establish the proper way to act with each other. All the opinions you read here, there, and elsewhere mean nothing with regard to how is the 'proper way' to act with another... that's your domain, if Dom/me you lead... if sub, you follow. Stereotypical fools, wannabes, and unsupervised governmental employees (aka part time Dom/me, err, Grand Master Pubah) will cause initial barriers to effective communications as a side effect of their curiosities. True lifestylers develop their own unique ways and methods of distinguishing themself from the endless flotsam, or daily tidewash. Be yourself and let yourself shine through, and be patient, sorry. As far as the grammaticals and protocols, there will always be sticklers, on both sides of the dynamics. My enjoyment of this lifestyle is not measured by grammatical accuracy, moreso the person with which I am interacting... not merely their typed words. Newbies and all those listed above go through a power curve... at first they don't understand the language and see U/us and W/we and ponder. Eventually they have a stroke of wisdom, and realize the worded intent, accept it as rigid protocol, and unfortunately attempt to enforce their perceived rigid protocol... all the while oblivious to the fact nobody owns nobody yet, lol ...but nonetheless, the perception exists on both sides of the dynamic... if Dom/me, tell them to do as you wish them to do... if sub, do what your Dom/me wishes... easy, right! Terry AKA ShadowHwk, I have to take exception with one of your statements. I am a Domme, and I enter chat rooms and ask if anyone is from my state. I am not looking for a hook-up or anything like that. I am looking for someone I can talk to about the local scene, or maybe someone I know, or just to complain about the weather. If you said that to me, I would consider it very rude, because I did not make a rude or suggestive comment to anyone. I know there are a lot of jerks out there, but give them enough rope to choke themselves, before your alienate a potential friend, or make enemies.

While I have said those very words to those in the chat rooms in response to the "Hey any subs here from XXXX that want to chat" - the tone by which they make the request tends to weed out the sincere from the wannabes. When that statement is followed by a "Whats up, don't any of you bitches want to chat in private with a 10" stud like me?" type comment they deserve what they get. The key here is that this type of individual isn't seeking to get to know anyone.... they are simply looking for online masturbation material. Maybe we could have a board where new members can introduce themselves and regulars can enter if they choose? Oh yeah, and we had snow flurries in London today!

Terry, I graciously accept your apology. I would be equally offended if someone started a conversation with such crudeness. Myrmidon has a good thought. A lot of the regulars do not take in account that "newbies" like to ask questions. BTW, we do seem to be running into one another all over these boards, lol. At least everyone will get a break this week. I am leaving Wed morning for San Franciso. I will be attending Cleo Dubois, Erotic Dominance for Women Intensive Training. I believe in continued education, one can never stop learning.
