Hey, don't forget this out and proud Trekkie. All ten movies on special edition DVD, and all seven seasons of DS9 on DVD.

But yeah, I think the whole re-casting and re-starting the franchise is a terrible idea. I don't want to see anyone else play Kirk than Shatner. I don't want to see anyone else play Spock than Leonard Nimoy. McCoy IS Deforest Kelley.

Many Trek fans grew up on these shows, they grew up with those specific actors playing those characters. Watching this movie would be almost like going home, and finding all new people trying to act like your family.

So no original series, no Enterprise, no Next Generation and not even the fan remakes Star Trek: The New Voyages ???

The films are always good because all the actors look fat and old in them.

Have you also noticed how all the characters change in the films? Piccard for example is all about peace and non confrontation in the series, mainly because war scenes are expensive; they have to explode things. In the films he makes rash decisions because the character has to appear more dynamic and the budget is bigger and so allows for more war. For the benefit of intergalactic peace it is thus better that no more films are attempted by these actors/directors.

Doesn’t anybody watch Boston Legal?  Lordy…it’s an award-winning, adult show with Shatner as a lead and he’s hilarious; they even allude to StarTrek.  Shatner is funny, nuts, vulnerable, political; really quite good!  It’s one of my favorite shows…though to tell the truth its James Spader I lust for.

He also does good breakfast cereal adverts in the UK.

Fav eps: Amok Time and Journey to Babel..... go figure...lol

Mine is The City on the Edge of Forever, teleplay written by Harlan Ellison, of whom Shatner once said, "Harlan Ellison is a surly young man who has spent years saying awful things about me, while I find him admirable."

While no longer young, Harlan is quite likely still surly as all bugfuck.

William Shatner doesn't need to do another Star Trek, he is not lacking in work.  With all the other things he does, he also does local spots for companies in various states. Here in OK he has been doing  commercials for a Law Firm for several years.

And Boston Legal....He is HILARIOUS...so very funny as Denny Crane gotta luv him.  Although James Spader is much closer to my age range and I have lusted for him since I was a teenager.

He doesn't "need" it monetarily, but I think it hurt his ego to not be included.

He's had a great career, and part of it was his ability to laugh at himself and not take himself too seriously.
Have you heard his music?  Rocket Man?  That was spoofed on Family Guy by Stewie.  The man is an icon of sorts.  Everyone has an opinion of him.

Hell, it's possible his schedule is just too busy to let him do a film just now.  Besides, aren't we about over Star Trek by now?

I had the “pleasure” of waiting on William Shatner when I lived in California…  He is so full of himself it is not even funny… When I asked him for an autograph for my father, he acted as if I killed his dog…  He is just as “cheesy” in real life as he seems on television…

There was a rumor going around that he had something to do with his wife death, but I don’t know how true that was…

Shatner IS Star Trek.

The whole gig is....they play this out for public animosity towards the film for 6 months...."Well then...I won't go if Shatner's not in it"....then....in all kinds of secrecy...Shatner shows up on a closed set, does his gig....and 2 weeks before the opening, they announce Shatner's in the movie.

(This ain't fucking rocket science folks).
