I've just had this sudden realisation that hetero sub males are disadvantaged uniquely amongst all those involved in BDSM.  We can't, as a group, dress in a sub style that will do anything 'special' for femdoms in a vanilla setting.  Bah.  No fair.

That reminds me of Neil Diamond's Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show.  For the longest time, I thought the lyrics were "and randy old ladies."  Turns out he's singing "and grab the old ladies," which, out of context, sounds pretty bad, too.

Status: offline 		There is one domme I see from time to time and we have mutual appreciation for how we each dress. I often ask her for a theme (what type of dress will be appropriate for that night), or how she will be dressing and then come up with whatever to fit the theme or complement what she plans to wear.

Once I got a female friend to pick out exactly what she'd have me dress in from various shops, on the basis I'd promise to buy and wear the whole ensemble. (I was pretty well off at the time.)   I got a nice little sub buzz out of that. 

Surprised by the result and quite pleased.  I've always pretty much dressed the way partners have wanted me to, anyway.  It really makes no odds to me.

Status: offline 		Men who can't dress themselves are so enchanting.  When I was a teenager, my dad and I were going to visit my mom in the hospital, and he dressed himself.  He asked me if he looked okay, and I graciously suggested a change, since he was wearing a printed shirt and plaid pants.  (this was the 70's)  I could see how he made the choice though, that shirt could have been dyed to match the trous!  Game go, dad!  Funny, he's a total clotheshound nowadays, though he still can't match things to save his soul.

And he IS my mom's sub, in a non-kinky way, so this IS relevant.

Status: offline 		I think there's a difference between saying "What do you want me to wear?" and "I've never been to that restaurant, are casual clothes acceptable or is it more dressy?" The first I find pushy, the second is a request for information.

I always tell my subs to dress and act in a manner that honors their collar. That covers a whole lot.

That's a good way to do it. And if it's a restaurant that the two have been to before, or it is a visit at home, one could ask:

Please let me know how you plan to dress so that I may dress accordingly.

If they are going out and the domme is planning to do jeans and t-shirt, the sub should be in the same ballpark, and the same if she is planning to dress nicer.
