cyberdude611 -> Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 6:51:30 PM)

Zogby asked the following question:
"Based on what you know about Iran's development of a nuclear program, how supportive are you of a U.S. military strike to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon?"

26% said they strongly favor a strike
26% said they somewhat favor a strike
14% said they not very supportive of a strike
27% said they did not support a strike at all

Adding up the totals... 52% said they would favor an attack. Compared to 41% who do not favor...

I say the U.S. sit this one out.
Let the European Union deal with Iran.

It's based on a false premise, that being Iran IS NOT BUILDING NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

So, I'm pretty sure the results are meaningless, given the fantasy-context of the poll.

It says more about the Ignorance of the respondents than anything else.

Why do you think they are not building nukes?

"know" being the key word here.... it would be worth more if there was a way to base what people think they know ...otherwise it is a meaningless poll, except to show that people know very little about that issue.

Well, the UN's been crawling all over them, and they have found NO evidence of diversion of uranium. I dunno what else can be said.

Why do you think they're building nukes? Do you have some evidence of uranium diversion the IAEA guys missed?

Unless Iran's diverting Uranium they're NOT going to be building any nukes.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 7:06:17 PM)

Of course they're building nukes, and this wouldn't be a problem if we hadn't already squandered all our manpower and resources on Iraq.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 7:07:04 PM)

A nation that is sitting on oil acts as if it needs nuclear power for economic survival. Not only that but they are building underground nuclear labs which the IAEA has not been allowed to inspect.

Zensee -> RE: Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 7:12:04 PM)

I bet all the WMD's that Iraq had are being hidden in Iran! That would explain why they still not have been found...

I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

We don't have any missiles or bombs, not even a MOAB or two to spare?

Where do you get your information?

"Weapons of Mass Destruction."
Ring any bells?

FIRST. It's their fucking oil. They wanna sit on it, that's their choice.

SECOND: Your charge of the Thoughtcrime Violation of THINKING ABOUT how to build a nuke.

Where are these labs of which you speak? I can convert GPS to LAT/LON, so either format is fine.

Showing that their inquiries into their weapon capability isn't finished.  By the end of this month, we should have a better idea if they're building nukes for peaceful purposes or for weapons.

Older article talking about their capabilities.

History of nuclear power in Iran.

Right now, the main thing would be to find out to what purpose they are enriching uranium.  If it's true- for energy, then we don't need to worry as much.  I'd like to know how easy it is to convert peaceful purposes to violent ones.  N Korea didnt' seem to have too hard a time with it.

Petronius -> RE: Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 7:19:37 PM)

It's the standard Republican propaganda for the not-very-bright paranoid crowd who support them.

Before Iran it was WMDs in Iraq. Before Iraq it was all sorts of imaginary plots by Al Qaeda to lauch new WMD attacks on the U.S. Before Al Qaeda it was a country like Libya.

And after the whole Iran paranoia blows itself out they'll have another wild fear for their supporters. It's the boy who cries "wolf" endlessly for the paranoid villagers and his financial supporters who just happen to make bows, arrows, and anti-wolf fences.

xBullx -> RE: Zogby: 52% of Americans support Iran strike (11/1/2007 7:31:40 PM)

Howdy Folks,

I doubt the IAEA is any more effective with Iran than they were with Iraq. Who gives a shit what the UN has to say about anything; it is only relelvent to a side if they are supporting your proposed position, beyond that they are the whipping dog. FB, if the IAEA said they had nukes, you'd say that was a Bush front and a bunch of bullshit.

The fact is that truth has been compromised for far too long. To be honest truth is a three sided illusion. It's a matter of perspective. We have to look at how it effects us, and fuck the rest of them. Secure our Home Stone. That might mean being assholes, but better to be a credible asshole than a lying ass surrender ready whimp. The hell with cut and run, I say we cut their nuts and stand and laugh as we fry them up.

Kill 'em all; let God sort 'em out.... And don't forget that fuckstick Hugo!

As ridiculous as that sounds it isn't any further from reality than a compromised peace or letting the EU do something about all this. The fact is folks at this point in time, we need oil, and the little oil barons are holding the cards. That's our own sad ass fault. Stop whining about the war talk and insist the Government fight this war the right way, take away their leverage...We don't need to fight with guns, we can use our ability to adapt and overcome. The US and it's allies  needs to develope our way away from oil. Period. Take away the need for oil and ask the question. Who is Hugo? Or the other dickhead, I can't spell his name, and he's not worth looking it up. So take away their power over us or get used to this same ridiculous debate.

Blah, fucking blah,

Bull

To many are to easily manipulated and its due to appathy and plain laziness... chances are, you're just as blind to the truth as the folks you trash with your proclomation.

Some bury their head in the sand, some bury their head in Bush's ass, try being a man, an individual and believe in more than a political point of view or agenda.

Read the Constitution once would ya.

The power of a man is in his own hands.
