So what's up with all the sorta subliminal crap in this thing anyway?  Art???

Judging by his hair, he's been gone more than 30 days, so I doubt they'll still be calling it AWOL when it goes in front of a General Courts Martial.

It's an all-volunteer force.  This punk signed the contract, raised his hand and took the oath.  Fuck him.  I hope he rots in Leavenworth, unless they decide we need another Slovik.

TheGorenSociety -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/11/2007 7:18:26 PM)

He volunteered, he walked ,he did the crime he needs to do the time.He is very lucky,if  he  had done this during  ww2, he would never have made it out of the barracks let lone go to a brigg .He is a Coward.

As I understand what he said, he is an AWOL from the dust up in indo-china, and frankly, I don't think so.

On the video, the guy from this round is introduced by an indo-china era deserter.  The POS in question enlisted after 9/11.

Danced with the madman, and now it is time for him to pay the fiddler.

Not even believing the introduction, I got in at the end and looking at the intro guy, I am saying at most mid 40s........I didn't get to the dissenter; because I am starting the first bit as no fucking way, so I am gonna imagine this as a cheap shot from front to finish.

kdsub -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/11/2007 7:38:20 PM)

Why did he sign up in the first place... he complains about a lot besides occupation... surely he knew those things before he enlisted... I believe he is just adding them trying to boost his position.

He had a lot of options besides desertion…he made a mistake going AWOL. I would have more respect if he had stayed in the service and refused the duty before he was assigned.

Now all he did was disgrace his friends and family and ruined his life. I have no respect for someone that dodges a fight for his beliefs ...His actions are like running from a fight… then when out of reach sticking your tongue out at your adversary.

What do you think should we invade canada next?

MissSCD -> RE: Open Letter to the Government from an AWOL Soldier (11/11/2007 7:46:01 PM)

All I can say about this one is that I am grateful for my father who has passed in 2000. He was a Korean Veternan with very traditional beliefs.
When I joined the Army in 1985, he did not like it one bit. As a matter of fact, he nearly hit me, and pointed and shook his finger at me and said these words to me, "Do not go in there and discrace the family with a dishonerable discharge."  He was really angry I joined the Army instead of the Navy because everyone who served in my family was Navy.   They were men.  I was a woman, and there was little opportunity for women in the Navy then.
Somehow, I kept my promise to my father and came home with my Honerable Discharge and Award of Service.  I am very proud of my time in the military.
For people like this, something happens to their minds.  When you are in the military, you belong to them.   You do not resign unless you are an officer.
I don't know now the penality for going AWAL in war is, but used to be they could shoot you on site.
Thank you all who have given to our country whether we agree with it or not.

Regards, MissSCD

so you looked a little farther than I did into the movie, I was RA, didnt go bitching one way or another, my twin brother avoided the draft, worked out for him becuase there towards the end nobody at the board knew what the fuck to do neither.

Like we talked about on another thread-------don't nobody ask don't noboldy tell, do your fucking duty as you see it and be proud.......if that duty is dissent great...........
But I am claiming, whether you agree with my position or not,Butch--- this is a glued up piece, and these fuckholes did not ever have to make choices...........you know even the youngest guy out of vietnam looks like this fuckwad that introduced the holy one? Cause I gotta tell ya, the guy that run out of vitamins, and goes to  the Fargo VA, when everybody else is damn near wheeling around ---

Well, even the COs I know from that time, aint none of them is 45-47 which is this assholes max age and I am saying this is an editorial piece.

What this "sargent" is neglecting to mention is this:  His Joes that he is supposed to be a role model for now have a less qualified leader because their guy took off.  He not only hurt his fireteam, but also weakened his platoon and company.  That is one less mind, one less weapon that can be called upon, less experience that can give insight.  Personally?  I think he needs a bullet in the head.

If that is the sergeant of the squad-----and I was in it, he would have been buried with military honors, by god, you can think that and we all did, but you cant just flake.

Thermite traces......7 billion insurance profit on the towers.....NORAD diverted......no trace left of flight 93 in Pa.....hole left in Pentagon too small......investigation delayed almost a year......building 7 fell for no reason.....etc, etc......pretty creepy stuff.....still, the Country has done remarkably well for the last 7 years with absolutely no Leadership

Girders bent in rings (which were rings in the first place) and structural steel that had the appearance of being cut off by an oxy-acetelyne torch; and it was.
