Has anyone else here ever watched a video clip or read a story and become turned on by something they consider so "extreme" that they are fairly certain they'd never really want to have the experience happen to themselves in real time...yet after viewing and/or reading it are left totally turned on (and wondering why)???
 
And before i get the "what does it matters" and "why ask whys", i'm really just wondering if this is a fairly regular experience for other people...? 
 
 
Oh, and it just dawned on me that what i said could be perceived in any number of ways.  What i'm specifically referring to is "extreme" torture/pain or things that may be "unsafe."

Yes, it is typically how one's limits expand over time. Things that were once in the i'll NEVER do that category are now things that i routinely do and greatly enjoy.

I know I have had similar experiences with that.  I read erotic/fetish fiction and watch extreme rubber and bondage clips, so naturally my mind hits the gutter and fantasies come alive.  Some are actually achievable while others are better left as a fantasy.  I think it is always fun to imagine if one can handle their deepest, darkest fantasies. [:D]

yes...but i have figured out a compromise....but its better left unsaid cause ya'll think i am crazy enough already...but it turned the Dom i am talking to on too when i told him about it, so it is all good....

Yes, and it was a mistake to tell my ex about it. We tried it, he got too into it, it was dangerous to my health and he wouldn't stop doing it despite me telling him not to and a trip to the hospital.

Of course, it was 50% my fault for a. telling him and b. consensually trying it the FIRST time.

Just one of the many reasons he is now my EX.

Yes when I first got into BDSM I read some stuff that is complete edge play, or felt it was morally wrong. I was lucky that the Dom I was talking to at that time I trusted completely and showed me that it was ok to imagine. That they can be done in a way that is safe, and to imbrace my inner kinky self.

I could not say if it is a fairly regular experience or not. For myself, I have always been attracted to the extreme. The more extreme it was, the higher the attraction.

I echo that thought.

Whether just pure fantasy, not done because it crosses my or my Master’s safety threshold and some things we do that some might call extreme are definitely things that can get me aroused by thinking about them or just the mention of them in a certain way.

Yes.  After a month or two into my relationship I figured out my brain was masochistic and body was definitely not!  My fantasies are far more 'extreme' than I would probably ever be willing to go.  But I think that's probably the nature of fantasies.

In general, I share with him any fantasies I have, no matter how far out or extreme they might be.  He does ask me "Is this something you actually want to experience or something you want to keep as a fantasy?".  Sometimes the fantasies continue to develop and I let him know what has been added or erased or strengthened or diminished.  It is gratifying to know that he wants to hear these thoughts and furthermore that he wants to explore them with me.  I love curling up in bed with him at the end of a long day and telling him about a dream or fantasy - it's a very special time for me.  Then he is mean and cruel - it works...

Definitely yes, and we have done most of them; the others are still on the to-do list.

For me it's because it relates to some emotion or concept that I already find hot- not the actual particular fantasy.  I get turned on by actual rape videos, but I don't want to be actually raped.
