Status: offline 		Welcome! i'm very interested in reading Your books as soon as i finish reading "Erotic Surrender: the Sensual Joys of Female Submission" by Claudia Varrin and "The Ethical Slut" by Easton and Liszt. One of the things i love about these forums is that it seems everyday i'm finding new things to learn about, books to read, or sites to visit for information. i love to read so this is a definite bonus for me. BTW has anyone read "Erotic Surrender" mentioned above? i would be very interested in getting others viewpoints.

Dose it really matter who any one is? If he's got some good honest comments, let the man speak.
It is no diffent then letting jane doe speak her mind, or is she really sally ann? Who cares.... Online there is never any real way to tell, and everyone is always someone eles. Its just how the internet is. Deal with it!

Funny people are telling me its him without proving futher proove. Funny he said he would post a photo or something that is not published and Id called him on it yet here is it? Even changes hishome page.

You say what does this proove or why does he need to proove to me.

i wonder if there are others authors and stuff here. ~ the longer i stay here the more interesting the collection of folks here seems!

People need to remember that you're 24 years old. Some of us have been posting on groups like this since the Internet (well, the web -- at least, in text) was "born" -- and it was a pretty small group of regulars back in the old days on Usenet. So when people say they know John Warren is real, it isn't because they have seen him in the flesh, but he's been posting on the net since 1995 or earlier and many, many kinky people back then used to get together quite often and meet. Plus he does seminars and whatnot, so people saw him around all the time.

Us oldtimers need to remember that it probably seems inconceivable that a small newsgroup existed in 1995 with very little spam or trolling and besides the unknown number of lurkers, everyone knew everyone else, if not in person, they probably knew someone who knew them in person. It would be like posting here at collarme and knowing that once a month or less probably 6 - 8 of us are getting together in some part of the US. I might be exaggerating that a bit, but it seemed like people were getting together all the time.

I remember ssbb,things were great on usenet until the damnable spammers started getting so prolific. (If there was ever a case for non consensual sm,I think giving payback to spammers are it. <WEG>)

I own a copy of your book,and your description of the 'branding scene" in it made me laugh till I cried......it's good to know I am not the ONLY one who has scared the living crap out of a sub during a mindfuck.

And imtempting? I doubt you have ever met George Bush or Dick Cheney in person either-are they really real?

Having to use personnal attacks trying to de-mean me,saying im nothing and not worth anything. How would new people be if they seen how you use personnal de-meaning name calling when an opposing view has been bought up.

Well I guss some people cant have an argument without name calling.


Also I find it amusing that john warren is keeping his cool while everyone else is getting heated. You think the person im talking about would get more angry then the people im not???

Guess it shows who sees things in a good sesne and whos after arguments....

I find it kind of ironic, how when someone desires to 'test' the waters, as so to speak - to see if someone is who they say they are - when someone does all the very things that is recommended to do time and time again by people in online forums and chat rooms - when someone is trying to use commen sense - why is it that everyone has to come down on them?

Is this John Warren so special? - (no offense John - I am sure you are a lovely man - and welcome to the boards BTW) - that He is to be treated something or as someone - different?

I do not see how the person refered to in the OP would want to be treated differently. After all - He is just a man. And yes, He did post an image in response to the question before - but again, that 'proves' only that he has a copy of a photograph.

If someone wishes to gain a little clarification, why do other mock? Let the two people work it out between them - why does eveyone feel the need to come to Johns defense? Someone like Akasha, who has met Him before and can verify its Him - alls good. But it's been verified now - so the flames can die. But why are people condemming that which is preached so readily, especially on this forum.

I am sure that the OP never intended a flame war. I am sure that John really isn't amused nor enamoured by such banter. He is probably, however, now informed with the behaviour laid out before Him. For people who people seem to want to respect a man for His acheivements - they are showing Him very little by such a poor reception IMO.

Test, reaffirm, reassure and above all else, remain true to yourself. If that means questioning until one is happy - then so be it. The person who is inline for questioning after all - has the free will to walk away from it at any time.

Thank you dark~angel. I've been watching this thread and have been really amused by how 'star struck' some of the posters are. It reminds me of when I was in junior high and madly in love with Duran Duran. LOL

With all due respect to John, he's just a guy who's written some books. There are tonnes of authors out there and guess what? They all put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. Well...ok...John probably has Libby put them on for him, but you know what I mean

A large number of people talk about him like he ain't even here.
some people here without permission, or intimate knowledge defend him when he is perfectly capable of defending himself gloriously. (I know, I know; mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa).
some people here think it's far too early to take a wait-and-see attitude.
some people here if he said the sky was blue would say that is too dangerous.
some people here gush over his posts (book)
some people here will never read his posts (book) before forming a complete system of opinion that he is just plain totally wrong, if only for the sake of open-minded philisophical debate
some people here immediately rise up and cackle--fake; poser; fraud; wannabe!!!!!!!!
Untold thousands lurk here without a word either way living vicariously.
Now, insofar as things occur here in the largest BDSM community on the planet (all us wonderful and communal crew) , I would say he is being treated just like any one of the other good ol' boys here, he just draws a bigger crowd cause there are no penis or tit pictures on his profile.

Honestly, I don't see where the suspicion was really warranted. On the other hand I don't really give a rats ass either. He seems to be who he says and that's fine by me. We are!! I'm sure those of us in Detroit metro aren't the only "group" that gets together. At most of our munches/fetish parties there are quite a few folks who are listed on CM.

And it never occured to me that John wasn't THE John Warren. I think it's great that people who have shaped this "lifestyle" are here contributing to the conversation. When I first started seeing Aakasha's posts, I thought the same thing. If they are people you haven't heard of, you might want to find out about them.

Because people don't want to face reality? People want to live their fantasy lives?
I questioned John. He answered. Even thanked me for asking. When you are somebody identity theft is quite prevalent on the internet. I know...someone has stolen my identity on more than one occassion...my BDSM identity that is. I don't consider myself an anybody in the grand scheme of things. I'm far from being any sort of expert on the lifestyle.
The bashing I experienced did however make me take stock in whom I consider real on these board's. Some whom I previously thought real are now in the online fantasy genre.

Bottom line is people here think everyone is a liar and nobody is real. In my opinion. By saying that they are saying they do not care to learn about this lifestyle. I know for a fact people come here and ask genuine questions. They don't come here to be mocked or lied to. This thread has shown us more often than people answering honestly they are going to answer by lying.
I thought the majority of people here were a bit better than that. Of course I'm always learning how little I know.

Hi Gloria - sorry, I am confused by your words - forgive me - are you saying that because people live in fantasy they have to ask, or because others live in fantasy and lie so much, people have to ask?

Exactly - which is why I was so surprised that some people came down on others so harsh when they tried to verify.

I guess I just didnt see it like that. I didnt see any accusations of anyone being an out right liar - just some people making sure that what they were being told was true. Validation. I don't see that as total distrust or not wanting to learn about BDSM - it was just some people wanting to set their own minds at rest. I dont think it has (imo) anything to do with not wanting to learn or respect BDSM as a whole, but it does show how many people have been burned by the whole 'must do it this way' - or 'one true way' philosophy. M'Lady A has a really good thread running at the moment and it is so linked with this core train of thought.

I really hate generalizing - but right now, I am the pot calling the kettle black. People should start to realise that BDSM isn't a Lifestyle - there are no set rules - its about being unique and being true to oneself.
