Dear Chainmaile, Ladies and Gentlemen;

In my opinion, repect cannot be manufactured or suddenly manifest on some command.  Respect comes from the spirit, emotional, mental side--not just the physical.

Though outward motions of someone can be seen as polite and or courteous, the spirit does not 'always' have to be present.  So many times the mechanics of being polite is all there is involved.  The heart is not into it and it is just something that must be done as far as a formality goes and or is engrained within due to parental teachings and or social teachings.

I feel 'respect' is inspired.  How to inspire others, in my opinion--starts with respecting one's self first.   All the excess then can manifest outward in being kind and courteous to others.  But, this is not manufactured--it is the essence of who I am.  Otherwise, it would be just a momentary act and not a constant of my nature.

I also feel, that I can always 'hope' for another's respect however, only hope when I do give my respects--that they can feel it is from deep within and not just a mechanical response that is empty of my intentions.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

If you disrespect me, you also disrespect yourself, and I simply move on.

That is much the way I see it.

Now deference is a different matter altogether

Exactly.
