If that's the only route you go, then yes, go for it. I am not against others who do, in fact, for newer people I always tell them to attend some parties and watch the tops there to see how they operate.

For me though...It would not work for reasons that I am not going to go into here [:D]

Understood-but when you deal with online-it's nice to have some tools at hand to weed out fakes-so they will quit wasting your time.

Once again...if that is the route that YOU take, then by all means go for it.

You are under NO obligation to explain your reasons to me why you do things the way you do them.

I sure as hell could care less about how others view my actions.

I've watched tops in clubs who beat asses literally black to get a girl to space.

And others who did the exact same thing-with a few needles. Leaving no marks.

That's the difference between skill-and stupid brute force.

I find comments like this bewildering.
If your at a club and seeing something occur that is 'stupid brute force' - why on earth would you just watch?  Why wouldn't you go speak the the DM or the organiser and make sure everything goes ok?  It's not interfering  - it's called communication.
But then - some submissive/masochists/bottoms need and love their assess black to get them into space.  So what?  Needles aren't everyones cup of char and get people know where.
It is the easiest thing to judge what is 'skill' and what is 'brute force' on others, but knowing if it's 'skill' or 'brute force' takes much more.

That's why people use refferences from play partners. Which is also a good way to help Tops NOT get into the habit of shitting where they sleep-play wise.

References are in the same league as blacklisting.  I would not place much in either.

Because the Dms allow it, being heavy players themselves? I got tired of being brushed off.

Anyone I ever played with asked around about me. it's one of the good things about being known in a community. If you damage bottoms-it's one of the bad things.

So you are saying that YOU, an outsider, an observer to the play in action...KNEW without a doubt that the bottoms in this little example...did NOT enjoy the heaviness of the play?

Jeffff -> RE: Experienced vs. Skilled (11/29/2007 7:48:59 AM)

I can get refrences........even if I have to coerce them...:)

But the bottoms may have been heavy players also.  But how can you assess that from observing only?  You make an assumption that it's 'brute force' - some people enjoy 'brute force' - that doesn;t make a person less skilled.  If you (generic) were playing with a bottom who enjoyed really hard force during play, and you disregarded that on the basis that you wouldn't do 'brute force' and continued to just play light - I would say that showed inexperience.  The 'experience' isn't so much whether you do light play or heavy play - it's knowing you are or are not compatable.  Walking away is the skill then.

Not from the reactions. Some women only suffer during play-they do it to submit. They aren't really masochists.

I see. I understand now.
You are one of those who insist that if it's not YOUR way, then it's the wrong way.

Ok.
Sounds good to me. Now I can discount everything you say without feeling guilt or regret.

Have a nice day [:D]

TO me its a two edge sword, first in order to become skilled you need experience,so take your pick....

And who are these 'bottoms' and how does one know they are telling the truth?  Who are these 'bottoms' and do they have the same pain thresh hold as me?  Same anything?  How do I know that you're not just best friends with this person?  Just because you can handle a puppy, doesn't mean you might be able to handle a full on bitch.
References are as valuable as the paper they are written on.

Like it or no, one develops a reputation in a community. It can be good or bad. And while it's sometimes tarnished by the standard back biting and gossip we see here- it's all that most new subs have to go on,beyond spending time with a Top. Which can be extremely dangerous in the wrong situations.

As far as levels of play go-I simply prefer to do things my way. Maximum results for minimum damage, I really don't care what the rest of you think about what I consider to be skill. I see damaging a toy needlessly as incompetent. And yes, that IS "my way"

Do whatever you want, your way.

So - second hand observation?
Communication not a strong point?  Ask them.  Then if they say they didn't like and wished it hadn't happened - then you can possibly claim 'brute force' - but seriously - if they are taking the pain either because they are masochist or doing so out of submission - then you have the ability to make that judgement, just no basis.
