I just had another abdominal surgery. The first was my partial hysterectomy 17 months ago where a bikini cut was made. That scar is in the fold of skin that happens when your tum tum gets a tad..... fluffy. [;)] This surgery had to have an up/down incision that runs from my belly button down to my hysterectomy scar, so I now have an upside down "T" intersection on my lower belly. When my Master and I were talking about this, He said He had never even noticed my hysterectomy scar! Yea, I think we sometimes make too much of our imperfections. Love is blind. [:)]

They cut along the areola and while the scar is now hardly noticeable, it took several months for it to stop looking like a dog bite with a big crater in my breast. I was horrified, and one day I presented my ta ta's to Mr. Wonderful with tears in my eyes and asked if he can ever enjoy them again like he used to. He took 'em both in his hands, observed, and said, "Huh. They look the same to me" and kissed me on my forehead. sigh

I'm always very self concious about my body as I'm considered BBW. A small one, but still BBW. I have stretch marks and scars and a flabby belly from having children. I do let my potential lovers know that I feel self-concious but have never been rejected because of it. I do feel self concious at times. The Dom I'm with now makes no comment about me and only seems to find pleasure in me so I am happy with that..

fr- I have been finding it very heartening to read the responses on this thread and have been following it from the start. The brain is so bizarre.... logically I know that my scars are a symbol of how close I came to death, emotionally I still avoid looking at them whenever possible and I fear that people will literally cringe or do a double take when they see them (I have had doctors look at it and say "wow it is so big" ..... not quite the comment you want them to say [:D] ) I haven't had a chance to road test them with anyone yet so time will tell. [:)]

Personally, I think we tend to look at ourselves with a very critical eye. I know for myself I can see all my physical imperfections and I am a BBW. All Master sees is someone who is beautiful and sexy in his eyes. Because that is what he sees, I try not to be so hard on myself and try to remember he likes the whole package.

Actually, I do have a younger brother but we are worlds apart. Imagine Grizzly Adams but more disheveled and "out there". My brother lives just south of Yosemite National Park and is so far out into the country that there is bear scat all over the trail that runs past his cabin. He is however, perfect fodder for this thread. He was always the hip one, tended bar, hung with the in crowd, etc. Could have any chick he wanted. He lives with a woman nearly 15 years older than he is and by most conventional standards of commercial beauty, isn't attractive. However, he adores her.

You know... it's damn near impossible to find out what someone finds an "imperfection" about themselves, and what they find a "positive feature". And annoyingly enough, I've lost an equal number of opportunities because I was turned on by someone's feature that they couldn't stand, as I have because I was turned off by a feature they liked or couldn't stand, as I have because I didn't notice or didn't comment on a feature they liked or couldn't stand. I understand that sometimes you can't win for losing, but people should be giving each other a little slack, I think.

Hm. I prefer lights off, myself. The thought of being seen naked in full light is terrifying to me, and in fact I do all I can to get men to NOT look , even clothed. :) My biggest "deal breaker" fear is my ass/thighs. Hell, I even avoid walking up stairs if there's someone behind me. I'd really much prefer that men don't look at me at all now that I think about it, because that way they won't find something wrong with me. headscratch
