Yup...Narcissist. From my self description on my website: Educated, articulate, affectionate, passionate Narcissist

If you are a narcissist, I can see why. People, who only know you from a website, make it a point to hop all over your nuts, and argue with you over basically NOTHING. If you and your concepts are so lame and unimportant. . . .what does it make the people who sit ALL day with you on their mind???

Face it Taggard, you are a supah star!!!!

Narcissism as a psychological disorder is not something to be taken lightly. I guess if he really has been diagnosed as a narcissist and finds it amusing and acceptable, it's just another display of the actual disorder rather than an attempt to address it and be more healthy.

NPD -- Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

# Feels grandiose and self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
# Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion
# Firmaly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions)
# Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation -or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply).
# Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favourable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations
# Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends
# Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others
# Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her
# Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted.

Actually, it's something we all should look for in potential partners. It's probably a more common disorder among dominants. I think something submissives need to look for in dominants is a sense of humility -- and the ability to be wrong, and the ability to apologize.

Fidelity -> RE: Spotting a fake... (8/13/2005 11:53:42 PM)

I have known a few of these, and I almost pity them.

They end up damaging others, and are never really happy.

I think that by definition, the disorder makes it impossible-except in brief flashes-nothing is ever good enough.

domtimothy46176 -> RE: Spotting a fake... (8/14/2005 12:16:02 AM)

Well heck, I always thought there was some latent narcissism in all of us, but your definition of NPD is much more than the the lil bit of ego inflation I think much of humanity is inclined towards. I didn't even know there was such a condition as NPD but I recognize quite a few of the indications as being traits I've witnessed in you're everyday garden-variety sociopath. In any case, not someone I would want holding the whip if I were a bottom.
Thanks for the definition. I've learned something new today [:)]

TallDarkAndWitty -> RE: Spotting a fake... (8/14/2005 6:02:15 AM)

Oh goody, I love this one...lets analyze me using the DSM...

quote:

NPD -- Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

# Feels grandiose and self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

I don't lie about my achievments. I don't really have to. I went from never having taken a dance lesson to world champion dancer in 5 years. I once tossed a hat perfectly onto this little hook 3 feet above me. I have done all sorts of amazing things in my life. And I certainly don't demand to be recognized as superior, though I certainly appreciate it when it happens.

quote:

# Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion

For the curious, I am a cerebral narcissist. (But that should have been obvious, a somatic narcissist enjoys singles bars and Gold's gym, not a message board.) And I don't think I am obsessed with these thoughts, but my definition of obsession might not match others.

quote:

# Firmaly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions)

This one isn't me at all.

quote:

# Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation -or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply).

This is the one that so obviously fits. For me, I like to get both, and often do, as witnessed by this thread.

quote:

# Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favourable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations

Nope...doesn't fit me at all.

quote:

# Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends

But I do it in a nice way...*laughing*

quote:

# Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others

Yeah, this one is odd. I really don't have that empathy thing.

quote:

# Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her

This one doesn't fit at all.

quote:

# Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted.

I am pretty arrogant...though I feel I have earned some of that. I certainly don't fly into a rage when conftradicted or confronted, as evidenced by this thread. In fact, I often provoke confrontation and contradiction because I enjoy debating so much.

I think I have been rather good about addressing all the questions posed.

Sometimes, I don't care enough about you to give you any more of an answer, is an answer.

quote:

As for the narcissism, good luck with that. Like all other things that have been pointed out that might be a negative thing, you've decided to gleefully embrace it as if you controlled it, or accept/revel in it.

I somewhat blame my therapist for that one. After he gave me my diagnosis, he then told me it was the same diagnosis he would give Bill Clinton, and that the prognossis was excellent for a full, happy and healthy life.

There is no cure, so what else can one do but gleefully embrace what one is???

You never answered the question why you can charge money for verifiedbdsm when you have clearly stated you don't care about it, you did it as a lark, and really can't be bothered to address anyone's concerns regarding its validity at all.

You went from stating it has a purpose, comparing it to a driver's license to just changing gears completely and saying you really don't care about it any more anyway, and can't be bothered to address issues about it. As soon as the questions got pointed. Then you switched gears to say you just keep the site up to draw attention and debate to yourself (because you like attention) and went on to talk about NPD to further deflect.

So do you charge 9.95 or not? And what about the questions people have raised about your service and its value -- does it have value if you clearly do not care about it? Can people expect they get anything for their money?

WOW! over a hundred postings in two days. You go boy, seems you're getting exactly what you want. You really are the commander of this ship and everyone seems to keep wanting to ride on it.

Girl. . .you noticed that too? The people hanging off his nuts think that they are doing him a disservice. . . .but I bet over the last few days, he's been getting CRAZY hits on his website. . .and all kinds of girl subs writing to him on the other side. I guess some of the "smartest" people around here don't realize that sometimes hurting someone required NOT validating their existence. . . .but instead, they validate Taggards existence (and stroke his ego EVERY TIME) by responding. Taggard got ALL of these monkeys dancing for him. It is quite amusing to watch.

Ever see a cat fall flat on it's face?

It picks itself up,tries to look classy, and then saunters off "Im meant to do that!"

Of course,it flattens it's ears, and lashes it's tail, when you start howling with laughter over it's obvious mistake..

The only creature in the room it's fooling, is itself.

The laugh is on you,kitty![:D]

Please, don't compare him to a cat, it is insulting to the cat!

When mine do something clumsy their "I didn't mean to do that" ploy is to groom themselves. [:D]

I'm done feeding his bottomless-pit ego.
At least if people come here and ask about his "service" there is a thread that shows where their $10 is going.
