i was wondering if there is a link to a website that would be geared nore to the D/s dynamic rather than master /slave. i would like to look into other aspects of the lifestyle as well, as i'm trying to figure out where i stand

You could try taken in hand. That's more domestic discipline but it might appeal to you. It has too much emphasis on punishment instead of communication to really work for me, but I know a lot of people like it.

It appears to me that a lot of the differing of opinion is not in the definitions as much as the application and practice. If the definition of a slave is "someone who givies up control, submitting totally" would that be accurate?

What i saw in this article was a whole lot of possible things that a slave MAY be subjected to. Granted each Owner will have His/Her own personal desires and usages for their slaves, some will be more or less lenient than others, some allowing more rights than others.. but isn't the slave definition the same as far as the slave is concerned? The variances are in how the Owner treats the slave?

i agree with the OP,and i can also understand this is not a one size fits all pre-packed heat and serve lifestyle, and i will sit quietly while all grab thier loin and prepare to degrade, and ridicule,,, but then,, i view master/slave different than others seem to. but, like all of this type of thing is relative to who uses it and those who reject it.

i think the thought of a D/s party is pretty fucked up, kinda like a swinger party with costumes and roleplay. hold on while i pull this collar out of my pocket and put it on you for a couple hours or so, or until its inconvenient for you. and if you consider a fulltime relationship of master/slave(s) to be mere roleplay extension, then isnt everything you do roleplay? going to the job you hate? being nice to people you dont really like. where does roleplay end and reality start. to put this in some kind of grasp, here is the best way i can put it.

this part time, and party situation are viewed as a top or bottom getting together with some bdsm gear. i dont see it as much of a domination/submission situation when the sub can freely get up and leave the party as they wish. what are you dominating? the conversation??? i think alot of people are confused as to what is the difference between all these, bottom-sub-slave/top-dom-master. bottoms get what they want and go, subs submit to a dom, slaves do what the master tells them. so for me,, personally,,, i am not looking for a pass around party slave, i am looking for fulltime ownership.

i am not saying this is the view of ALL masters, but to help you may look at like this. "real" or "true" masters or slaves look at this part time situation of temporary collars for parties etc. it may be looked upon the same as:

a cop views a security guard
an outlaw biker views some suit and tie on a brand new hog
or maybe how a chef views the greasy spoon line cook
or how the band that writes its own songs views a cover band playing local bars
how clowns view mimes
how cyclist views mountain bikes in the city
or how hockey players view figure skaters


the list of things a potential slave should expect to be is right on with my thinking. i do not necesairly use my slaves for all these things, but a potential slave should be prepared to be used.  i look for quality though and not quantity. oldman slave may be short and chubby, and bruno slave may be irresponsible and forgetfull sometimes, but willingness to serve, attitude, honesty and openess overcome. i chatted and emailed with bruno for months, establishing things before the intital phone call and meeting set up. then was the interview process which took over a year in itself.

and so what if the OP came from another source, why is that an issue? if it is free info and passed along to someone to use it.

I'll tack on my opinion that even though I hadn't read every word in the OP, that there are parts that sound correct, and other parts that sound like someone that thinks the 'twue' people should be wearing tin foil hats and dancing around a naked politician widdershins.

In many ways i am still a novice posting here; however those who see my words seem to think I am way ahead of the reality. My take on the initial posting is simple.

What it describes classical slavery from the 1600's and 1700's.

In the 2000's there is no such thing as legalized slavery [period end point]. The concept of classical slavery is 100% illegal (as far as I know). One of the responders above would be closest when they said that slavery is a consensual agreement between TWO persons. A contract of ownership will not hold up in court and ... in fact ... may put the Master/Mistress in further legal trouble as other charges maybe placed before them in court by state and federal law enforcement agencies.

What we have here is ... the extreme scenario of a consensual ownership agreement. From my biased opinion it is the most dangerous form of agreement that can be made. One from which I can only imagine the slave to be shut, locked, and totally forgotten about at some point; or worse yet killed because it was the Masters/Mistress' "pleasure". These are the types of agreements I speak so loudly against; and it ought to be what the whole of the leather community ought to be opposed to and fight against as well.

From my own view of being Master: "The slave has the right to choose whom they serve; The Master/Mistress has the control during length of the relationship, and EVERY slave has the right to have an legal and respectful exit from the relationship" if they so wish.

Well, I made it to the 4th line before I realized that whether or not this was the one twue way of slavery, it didn't apply to me. Nothing that came after the assertion, "A slave has no rights" could possibly be applicable to any relationship I might engage in. I agree with Rover, it seemed more like an excerpt from the Marketplace series than real life to me. YMMV.

To add to the "attribution" fray: not only do you need to give credit, you actually can't take someone else's text and reproduce it, without reference, and the original author's written permission. It isn't so much that the Sheriff will knock on your door in the morning, but you could lose your Internet account - ISPs will pull you off the air in a heartbeat, when someone complains. I always say this loudly, as I am a published author, photographer, and hold patents: what you did is theft.

And then: you said you felt you had to share this, but you don't say why? If you have a point, other than that you can cut and paste, what is it?

And it is a lot of text, without apparent purpose. I think we well know there are those who spend their days writing drivel, instead of playing - I only impress when someone can provide insight in a paragraph. Without lists, and bolding, and underlining, and italics, and bolding with underlining, etc.

i'm collared, owned and Daddy's property ...i do have rights and am treated like an equal within our D/s relationship sans a contract (which is not legally binding in any court of law).

I am sick of the slave and sub titles. This OP only highlights that opinions can vary so greatly.

To me the title of slave -vs- sub is really pointless.

In my mind I want a slave – someone totally willing to follow my every direction. Regardless of what those directions might be. I want the ability to have total control over every aspect of their lives.

But I actually guess I want a sub, as I don't want that person to follow my directions because they feel they have no choice. What I want is for them to choose to follow me on a day to day basis because they trust me so deeply. I don't want someone to fear me but instead to respect me. That person would always have a choice.

And even though I really like the concept of “No Limits” - the reality is certain limits have to exist – maybe not on paper or even spoken, but a Master must at the very least limit him or herself. My ideal subs/slaves can have an expectation that certain barriers will not be crossed. For example no pain session should end in a trip in an ambulance.

Inescapable servitude? I've seen that on a website that claimed if a slave tried to escape the Owner had the right to gather the group to go after the slave and bring them back. Sounds rather like fantasy to me and could be illegal if they actually went through with it. The human mind can be a scary thing.

This just points out the necessity of a sub/slave choosing who they submit to wisely. i am a slave at heart and if i were presented with this by a Man who thought He could be my Master, i would run far and fast. This person would obviously have little regard for my health and safety and i would not be able to respect them, let alone trust them.

The idea that a woman cannot be a slave because of dependents? pfffft! Have an education? Sorry, slaves are supposed to be stupid, i guess. pffft! again. What happened to barefoot and pregnant? oh forgot that whole kids thing. a bit inconsistant...


As someone else suggested, i want to see the Master's side of the contract... what happens to the slave when she gets wrinkly or finds out she has cancer? What if she breaks a leg and can't kneel? Who pays for medical and what about retirement? What if the Master gets her pregnant? (that whole a slave can't have kids thing again... darn!) There is more to being a Master than tacking that six letter word on the front of the name.

my other thought is: "Contact? we don't need no stinkin' contract!" If a Man's verbal word is not enough, words on a paper mean nothing. If He breaks His word, the trust is gone and i am outta there.

Guess that means i'm not a 'real' slave. *shrug* i am enough of one for my Master, and that is all that matters to me.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought that way. I see little point in a contract. Things change - time sees sure to that. Any contract written today can't possible cover every scenario that might come up 5 years from now. Besides this is all about consentual - Just because a contract has a signature doesn't mean you can't walk at any time.

Not like such a thing would stand up in a court any way. Although it would be pretty funny to watch someone try.
