NotYourAverageJo -> RE: Heavily used by satanists!?! (12/2/2007 6:08:49 PM)

I'm not sure that the guy who wrote the review actually understands what a Satanist is. Like other religions, they've all got their way, and there's more than one way to be a Satanist. Not all of them worship Satan. Most of them, in fact, do not. The two most prevalent forms of Satanism are the LeVeyan Satanism and the Theistic Satanism. I won't go into too much detail but anyone interested in the differences can find a quick rundown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism I had the opportunity to have a discussion with a Satanist. We talked about a wide array of subjects before we got to religion. I told him that I was open to spirituality, but not devout or practicing any particular religion. Then he let me know that he followed the Golden Rule. I hate being preached at, so I worried a bit when he said that. But then he elaborated, saying, "Do unto others before they do unto you." Double take. What now? That's not the way I'd heard that expression go. He explained that his version of Satanism involved the protection of oneself. He also thought orgies, liquor and abstract art were great. To each his/her own. At any rate, I wonder just how many people really care who uses the site? The bulk majority of us aren't here to befriend every Tom, Dick and Hairy that creates an account. Some are here for the forums. Some are here out of curiosity. And some are here to troll. Some are here to make a few, close friends. Some are here to expand their social D/s network in their home towns. And yeah... perhaps some of them are here to find others to invite to the bi-weekly Satanist BBQ. Does it really matter if it doesn't directly affect you and your life somehow? Personally, I don't rightly give a rip what others think of me most days. I'm not a terribly social individual. I'm more inclined to have a few close friends and tell the rest of the world to kiss off. So if eight hundred (plus) people are reading a review and sitting back murmuring "Ohh, those are baaaad people at that site" I probably don't want to know them in the first place.
