I whole-heartedly endorse discussing reality. I don't really see the appeal of discussing fantasy. I see (and feel ;) ) the appeal of reading fantasy, especially erotica, but cognitive stimulation certainly isn't the goal of fantasy for me. I come to these forums looking for a discussion of people's real life experiences and advice. In fact, I don't think there is any better advice than that which comes from people's life experiences.

Oddly enough, while i find "Real Life" far too Real, i much prefer truth in virtual discussions. Possibly because so many people suck at writing fiction

I try to practice a degree of transparency. This means being honest and truthful about my life and opinions. People can take all that as they will.

LadyPact, I am another who enjoys Your comments, and not just for Your chosen font colour LOL! And I very much like to read about what people are actually doing in meatlife (let's avoid the word truth since that has other connotations). Anyone who wades through My posts knows I also draw on many examples from My own experience in the hope that they resonate with someone and might actually help someone understand something! I do get comments that tell Me it works at least sometimes!

If I have any concerns about posting about My life in a transparent way, it's the fact that as these posts will come up if someone googles My nick, they will get a collective large amount of info about Me, enough to probably positively identify Me! However, I tend to feel if someone really wants to go to all that trouble ... well, tough, I'll ride it out! So that's enough to stop Me posting a pic with a face here (why make it too easy!), but not enough to stop Me speaking from life.

I'd rather have the truth anytime. There is abundant lying, manipulation, deceit. A solid relationship is required to base the fantasy; anything else is empty. If a person just desires the fantasy, they should go to a pro.

Same here. I express by own view with courage and try to illustrate my point with real life experience (even if it is a bit duller than fantasy). If I don't have something unique and truthful from real life to say, I try not to post

I personally find glimpses into other D/s couples/triples lives fascinating.

There are great sites to read BDSM erotic stories. There are some wonderful writers here on these boards and I love their creativity. But I read the Ask a Mistress thread for a dose of reality from the trenches

This is off on a tangent, but it takes a thick skin (and a pretty big ego

) to write openly about your own reality. After doing it for a few years on an Aussie website, I felt really over-exposed.

Complete strangers would come up to me in clubs and say "hey I loved that golden shower you did on richard" or "sorry to hear you are single again". Because I wrote about it. My private (sex) life was being publicised, discussed and dissected by people who didn't know me. People I had never met had strong opinions about me as a woman and as a Mistress.

And that was entirely my own fault, of course

I had a bit of a paranoid melt down and wanted my privacy back. I stopped publishing anything personal about myself for about 5 years.

Today I like this board because it feels anonymous, although occasionally I spot an Aussie I know in real life and feel "watched" again.

Its great to post frankly in places like this, but it needs to be balanced against protecting the boundaries and privacy of yourself and those you love

Last night I read this thread and agreed with what was being said about revealing possibly too much personal information and how much it may expose us. The next thread I read and responded to was the one on being alone/lonely because it struck a deep chord with where my mind was last night. I should have kept this thread in mind, because today I have had the strangest messages from men from various countries (inc Kenya and Nigeria...) when I have rarely received them before. I will keep it in mind for future posts, even though I am of the persuasion that we should be able to be open and honest on these boards, we just can't police who is out there reading them.

I'm not here for any sort of fantasy...not even for meeting people, really. I want to learn and discuss and, sure, have some laughs occasionally. The best way for this to happen is total truth.
