Like Emeraldslave said, they hurt and leave nice stripes. This slave had a great fear of the cane, but with time and experience she discovered the wonderful feeling of the cane and the power it has. She also discovered that during a caning session, the subspace was much more deep and intense for her. To this day, this slave still fear the cane, but her body always betray her.

In reply to batty24546 start slow this would be important for both you and her it can be very sensual and certainly a wonderful buildup.

Status: offline 		canes can be used in many ways, and to achieve many desired results. i used to be frightened of them physically and mentally, but i have worked on overcoming this. it's like so many other things, how they are used.

Dear littleone,
I honestly thought they were repulsive evil things too until I saw the sensual side of a cane. There are so many things that are sensually oriented with a cane that can be done with not one swat. Maybe you should try and start by just dragging the tip of it over your skin while your bound standing up. If you do this you may get to the point you can look foreword to it being pulled out of a toy bag.
I HATE hard sting sensations, but I love being swatted good with a cane. Not only is it less stinging than say a single tail, but it makes me very hot and wet these days. I've gotten to the point I'm turned on by the nice bruised patterns on my fanny and the heat of the welts.

My first encounter with the cane was unpleasant however the hot welts and marking afterwards I loved....sometime later the cane was used in a sensual way...dragging the cane across my body then slow soft hits and then a buildup....I too now cant wait for it to come out of the toy bag and get very wet during a session and orgasm if allowed....then afterwards I am left with the wonderful reminder for days which I can admire.

Everyone talks about how dangerous it is if someone misuses a singletail, but I think it's a lot more dangerous if someone misuses a cane. If you break someone's tailbone, that's a big deal, and I think it's a lot easier to do with a cane than with a singletail.

Status: offline 		my .02 on canes: i own an acrylic twisted one that i call 'the motivator' or sometimes for niceties my 'unicorn horn'. it's pretty to look at but nasty to play with. it's think yet flexible to a certain extent and ive been severly striped w/it on occaision. it mostly hangs on the doorknob now... ;) canes equal punishment to me as they have never evoked anything but raw pain, unlike crops and various leather acoutremonts (sorry spelling...) id never thought about someone breaking the coccyx until Lam brought that up though, good point!

Actually, I have one cane that is more like a skinny club. It's bamboo and doesn't flex one little bit. I would guess that if I swung it hard enough...and missed bad enough that I could break the coccyx.

Sounds more like a walking cane than a whipping cane [laugh]. I tend to lean toward well-wetted rattan. Done right it raises nice "railroad tracks" with almost no subsurface damage.

Oh, be careful with the bamboo. It does have a habit of splitting laterally which leads to razor sharp edges appearing unexpectedly.

Yeah...it's about 1/2" thick. I also have quite a few made from rattan which are quite a bit thinner and are a lot more flexible. No worries on the bamboo though. We keep it well sanded and lacquered and I usually inspect my toys before I use them.

Status: offline 		The ones I've used are lucite and bamboo, but I'm not a big fan of caning, so I don't use canes very often.

I'm pretty sure that if a nincompoop smacked someone on the tailbone with a lucite cane, they could break it.

Status: offline 		Lets see..Mixed Emotions? Well I was never caned before, but had the riding crop on my DEAR E REAR (LOL). Now that was a mixed emotion...It hurt, but at the same time, I LOVED IT. The first session I had with MADAM, she was using it on her husband, and he is a pain slut...but he was having such a JOLLY time, I asked if I MAY try it. She told me to use safe words since it was my first time...and WOW..I LOVED IT. I "Yellow Light" when she got a little rough, but I really love it. Now if anyone told me before that day, that they were going to use a Riding Crop on my Buttery, I would of told them to stick the riding crop someplace...and not on me. But after trying it, I loved it...and really miss it. Now maybe someday, I would be able to try the cane out too. As for hot Candle Wax...that's another subject all together.

Status: offline 		I have used canes for a long time.... when one talks about caning it is very important to appreciate exactly what type of cane one is talking about. The type of cane can have alot of variation on the sensations that will be enjoyed, various woods like rattan being the most common, synthetics like fiberglass lexon for example and then there is metal like a fencing sword mmm that is a fun one to use. This is not to forget the psychological impact that this type of play brings to a person. Some will never like the cane, sometimes it is a matter of type of cane and the way it is used. ... most just tend to consider it simply as a swatting toy... but dragging the point... hits with the point.. dragging the cane along the body like the bottom is a violin are ways to use it plus others. Yes a cane can cause alot of damage in the hands of someone that is irresponsible, but is much easier to learn and to use effectively than a 6 foot single tail in my opinion. For me personally, I also find canes to much more flexiable in the play as well. I have a passion for canes... but they are only enjoyable if the right cane is used in the right way for the bottom in question. I am fortunate to have had many opportunities to play with several people that enjoyed the cane. One learned to over come the intense fear of the cane... She never truly liked it, but the pride of overcoming the fear was rewarding for her. My one girl will have intense orgasms from it's use. yes it is alot of fun for those that enjoy it.... But like anything - if you like it great if not so what this isn't a competition.. This a FUN!

Status: offline 		I have read the guide to sensual canning over and over and still go to it now and then its a great site....the whole site is an interesting and informative read. The important thing is that is not one of those have to do things....be comfortable with it and enjoy.....and do it safely.
