the 7th day adventist church myp arents went to was like that. Mom wears pretty jewelery, not lots just a broach or something and dresses nicely and had home made vests and stuff she wore, pretty colors and pretty patterns, and other women in the church attacked and critisized her for how she dressed to come to  church, and one woman was even ran out of the church by petty and vicious members. There's a lot of back biting and viciousness going on in a lot of churches a lot of them women were pretty 2 faced, being all lovey dovey preachy family like to you, and then when you were gone bashing you. It's a shame

Intolerance of organized religion in general is one thing  (I personally have a bit of this when it becomes a sword and tool to judge and criticize instead of a safe haven to worship),

You assume, that people are assuming. If I tell someone merry christmas, I am not and have never assumed they were christian, it was a jesture of good will, regardless of religion.  I typically say happy holidays however, not to be pc and not offend any one, but because good will should be for more than one day. That and New Years is a holiday* I believe* So I am wishing them good will for not only the one day for each day.

Personally I take offence at the assumption that I am a Christian as well.

I was all ready to write a long post to reply to SexyRed..  But it seems to me that after what Emporer and FatDomDaddy wrote in response, the only thing I have to say is
"well said guys!"

And thank you for saying so.

I am Roman Catholic but that doesn't mean, I cannot enjoy the festive atmotphere of Chanukkah. After all, fot the first 100 years of my Faith, all the celebrants were Jews too! Well... most of them..., Paul was out trying to convert the Goyim....lol

I thinbk mext year they run together, with Chanukkah's last day falling of Christmas Eve, I love when the run together like that.

L'Chiam and Merry Christmas Everyone!

FDD

FDD,

Knowing that you aren't jewish makes your knowledge of judaism all that more impressive!

For sukkot, I plan on decorating the sukkah with all the holiday cards I received this year!

Well thank BSB,

And I hope Chanukkah Charry brought you lots of pretty footware and maybe something special to wear on the Goyish New Year.

FatDomDaddy, I see nothing wrong with debating an issue and sharing each others opinions, but when one person , instead of simply sharing views and opinions in a polite manner, personally attacks the character of another person, it turns into an arguement. When you put someone down instead of saying 'I understand your opinion but I don't agree with it, here this is my opinion on the issue' than you are starting a flame or arguement. And I didin't mean you when I was talking about someone flaming. And there is also a flaw in correcting someone. When you correct someone and try to change their beliefs by personally attacking them as you call 'Pointing out the fallacy' it is invalidating and cannot be considered a fact for a fact would only be if it could be proven and if everyone agreed with it. And if the majority of society believes one thing but 10 percent of society believs something else, than it is still just an opinion, not based in fact. One more example..if I said that something important in history did not happen but it really did, you could definitly point out my mistakes with cold hard facts that everyone would agree with.
