Did anyone else get spammed with someone educating us on Cyber Law in response to this thread?  I got a gazillion pages (ok, an exaggeration) of legal citings emailed to me, followed up with a "Duuh"

Um...thanks?

Yeah I did too...you have to love the legal advice according to "googling it".  Oddly the cases this person cited actually show the strengths of the TOS.

I'm really having a hard time picturing any attorney sitting up all night spamming people with incomprehensible strings of unrelated caselaw that clearly isn't all that applicable to the situation and even refutes the very position they seem to think they are making and yelling about "free speech" when even a paralegal would know it doesn't apply to totally private entities.   Atlhough I guess any profession has their lunatics and incompetents.

Someone seriously needs to get back on their meds the obsession is growing old.

Much like the cranks who flood physics professors with painstakingly handwritten mounds of theories explaining in great detail perpetual motion devices that will never work in real life.

Something about the arcana of some professions goads certain types into foisting what 'just makes sense' to them off on everyone else, without regard for what the profession as a whole has established as a common body of knowledge.

Oh yeah, and the idiot killed the account, because he didn't dare have anyone burst his fantasy bubble.  First of all, not that it matters, all the law HE cited concerned monetary exchange sites, so good luck to him......(knows like a dumb insect he will have to hover here to look) I just thought I was spechul to get that letter, now I just feel like one of a crowd, lol!!

kc692 -> RE: "Awaiting approval" (12/24/2007 6:07:21 AM)

Ignore the troll, he was making sure he got his inane incorrect message to all those he missed on the spam.  It's a shame his other account was banned, so he's doing all these fake accounts........can't get in to play here any other way.

I did, but it doesn't seem to work. Are you blocking my reception? (Bad Christmas joke.)

Yes, because we have nothing better to do during the holidays than to waste our time approving posts from users who couldn't be troubled to follow our rules.

You do know we love you, right? [sm=flowers.gif]

Seriously, though, it's a lot of work (done it myself, elsewhere); thanks for making the effort.

Health and merry Christmas to the mods and posters,
al-Aswad.

They traditionally eat rawfish this time of year somewhere in northern Europe, I forget where.

Yeah but the servers and service to connect to the internet are not paid by the government. That is why there is a TOS on most if not all sites, especially if they are free sites.

Actually, more to the point, the DARPAnet, which was funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is not the same as the Internet. The latter is a loosely connected set of links, much like the old Six Degrees of Separation thing, with a common "language" to explain where things go. A simple comparison would be like the post office, just faster. Free governments do not own the mail, even when they own the postal servie.

Our computers speak the TCP/IP "language", which equates to mail exchanges.

The difference is the speed and the presentation, mostly.

Health,
al-Aswad.

I also know one day I will lose it and will come under Mod 11's special attention. I figure it is not a matter of "if", but "when". Sigh.

The person behind Mod 11 changes.  Some have been a kick in the butt and some have been tempermental.

The only change I have noticed about XI is that the leniency is cyclic... 29.5 days or so. [;)]

All in all, though, remarkably consistent as these things go.

Health,
al-Aswad.

If you are talking about lutefisk (fish that has beed gellied in lye) or gravlax (rotten salmon), that's an option too, but not for me... I don't like either of those, and in the western parts of Norway, pinnekjøtt is the traditional dish. I noticed that Wikipedia has an article on all three, although the one on pinnekjøtt is not entirely correct (for instance, not nearly everyone serves mashed rutabaga and potatoes along with the pinnekjøtt, and the picture in the article shows a rather unappetizing presentation of the dish; plus, there should be melted butter or leaf lard on those potatoes).

Health,
al-Aswad.
