No gunfire here.  Fireworks will be happening.  It's already started.

You ought to try spending a New Year's in East Oakland, it sounds like the battle for Tikrit.

Here in Myrtle Beach on New Year's Eve I like to out on the front stoop about 10 minutes before midnight and listen to the fireworks and gunfire.
You can tell the gunfire it sounds like "bang, bang, bang, bang" in rapid succession as someone empties an 8 or 10 round magazine.
And it comes from all directions too!
Does this happen in your area too?

(Uhmmmm....no).

Here in mid-Michigan (farm country and a few conservative rednecks) there's a little of both.  Mostly fireworks but more than a few gunshots too.

Yeah, we had a bunch here and from all directions! lol
I was outside with the door open and about a half mile away there was a nice fireworks display too! Then more and more still.
Man, with all that gun fire I can just imagine how many gunowners like me *didn't* fire their guns off.
And that's just in about a one mile radius.
That's why anyone would be crazy to try and invade this country!
We DO love our guns!

My cat went and hid under the bed!
I put him in the front bedroom where he likes to sit on the window sill with the window open.

Hmmm...not quite 1am, and it's already (mostly) quiet here at the house... folks around here must be getting old.

Actually I heard a lot of racket.
Not sure if it was gunfire or fireworks, probably both.
It was off and on for about 20 minutes.

All the time.

Not in the U.S. but big celebrations in foreign countries always meant a lot of shooting.      I was always looking for a good place to hide when the national football team (e.g. soccer team) won a big game.

I live in the UK, and in my (nearly) 44 years I have NEVER heard a gunshot in the streets.
