KnOcala -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 12:45:50 PM)

They are both rich in oil and American Oil Company interests and Bush is an Oil Man.

I guess those are things in common

bestbabync -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 12:47:23 PM)

and you can be Latigresse's running mate.  you both have all the answers and know everything!

like i said, in some circles both your post can be classified as "spouting off rhetoric"!

whew!

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 12:51:17 PM)

Stop being childish.  Neither one of us said that we knew all the answers...we just disagree with your sentiments and have the facts and sources to prove our points.  Go lick your wounded pride somewhere else.

As to being LaT's running mate....I'd do it in a heartbeat.....purrrrrrrrrrr.......[:D]

bestbabync -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 12:59:27 PM)

i am not being childish.  i am just being real.  your partner believes we brought 9/11 on ourselves and you believe that the muslim people are no threat to us.  so maybe together people like you will solve the problems.  obviously noone has done it right up til now, so maybe your ideaologies and humanitarism will make this a safe place to live and work!
do away with the military and welcome all to come into our country, no matter their faith, love or hatred for our country.  let's see what happens!

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:10:02 PM)

W$ haven't learned our lessons yet,as long as we have open borders and people filing in like sand in a sieve we won't be safe...I don't want to go back to ww2 isolationist attitude but when is enought a enought..WE have children going to bed and old folks eating pet food to make it in our country today and yet billions are spent looking after other nations that don't deserve our help..Tighten  our own borders and help our own people, lets see how that may work...Its not about the past but about the future we should be concerned with...

KnOcala -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:16:28 PM)

wow,  I didn't mean to step into a debate.
Honestly, I think we did the right think initially.  But we are spending billions to rebuild a country that will not be able to hold it together if we leave, and we should be seeing the benefits of our aid at the gas pumps.  Why are we spending over $3 a gallon?  Why is our money in aid not supplying us the oil at greatly reduced rates?

bestbabync -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:23:16 PM)

Bountyhunter,

that is what got me into this debate, protecting our future.  but there are many in our country that believes that the only threat to our future is ourselves.  that is what i was pointing out in my last post.  some believe that the american policy and actions overseas caused 9/11.  to make it simple, they believe that america went over, stuck her nose in something and pissed off the muslim nation/people and they retaliated by killing innocent people in NYC on 9/11.

i truly do not believe we should open our borders.  i believe like you we should take care of our own.  but unfortunately, like u gave the example, we were invited to vietnam, america has taken the position in this world to be a damn hero!  america feels that they must protect isreal, oil, etc etc etc.  here we are in the middle east and can't get out gracefully!

kiss
kiss!

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:25:05 PM)

Bounty, I see your point, but we can't be the land of the free and the home of the brave if we turn people away int their time of need.  What about the statement on the Statue of Liberty that says, "Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses"?  Should we change it to "No Vacancy"?  If we start kicking people out now, we lose what this country was created for.

I don't agree with illegal immigration; I think people should do it the legal way it was first created as.  I also agree with you that we should not be in Iraq.  I think we should concentrate on our own country's issues before going out and trying to solve other people's issues.

And, for the record, I'm damn proud to be a humanitarian, and to stand for the rights of all people, not just the ones who are like me.

bestbabync -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:30:24 PM)

i guess noone but me read the diary entries and letters written by terrorist.

in these writings it was found that Al Qaida operatives were trained and stationed in the middle east in the following countries Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Afganistan.

KnOcala -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:38:08 PM)

There is no easy solution.
I would like to free the world of extremist, but it won't happen.
I believe in striking back when we are attacked.
I believe we cannot keep giving - our lives, our blood, our families and our money.
But
I don't have a solution.  I wish I did.
I support our troops and have served in our military in the Middle East.
I pray for those that are lost,
I have been part of a USMC funeral detail and have been in almost 100 funerals.  - None are easy
We are in a very difficult position to be in.

What's your point?

Aylee -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:41:10 PM)

Maybe she found it to be a newsflash?

Or maybe she wanted to point out that terrorists are mean.

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:42:20 PM)

Nah.  They are just misunderstood.

Aylee -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:44:01 PM)

Is that what they are calling it these days?

Oh, and I found an error in one of your "facts."   We never imprisoned Japanese Citizens in WW2.

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 1:51:18 PM)

We most certainly did.  The American government moved them from their homes, took their posessions and kept them into internment camps.

I consider that imprisonment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment

Not the most reliable source, but it will tell you a bit about it.

Aylee -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 2:00:45 PM)

I am mostly picking on you at this point.  We did put Japanese in big internment camps but they weren't citizens, because the US was not allowing them to become citizens yet.

trappedinamuseum -> RE: Does anyone know the difference between Vietnam and Iraq. (1/10/2008 2:02:17 PM)

Ahhh....point taken.

You are correct.  I apologize and throw myself down at your feet, begging for mercy...
