We are so inculcated with guilt that we think that weakness is a sin or that it is some crime against nature to be submissive. - Dr. Anton Lavey

Inculcated:

1.
to implant by repeated statement or admonition; teach persistently and earnestly (usually fol. by upon or in): to inculcate virtue in the young.

2.

to cause or influence (someone) to accept an idea or feeling (usually fol. by with): Socrates inculcated his pupils with the love of truth.

Yeah, yeah I had to look it up.

I have no guilt over my submissiveness anymore.  Occasionally I struggle with masochism still but really only when I am with someone I am mismatched with.

Yep founder of the church of Satan, and that I only know from some idiotically insane threads here by completely paranoid people.

There was another one started in response, but I don't know the name of it and it's not nearly as entertaining.

It's kind of like one of those movie endings where you really have to figure out what happened.  Was the guy a total paranoid loon or was it a spoof?  I vote for the first personally.

Well, If you look at it it could be termed a quote for everybody, as its good for everybody to think about. However, if I had to pick someone for this quote to be *best for* it would be a sub

~Obviously this is all opinion, so dont get all pissy :P

If you think that was pissy, fasten your seatbelt or grow thicker skin on this forum... - no need to get defensive (couldn't resist that)

It's a ridiculous quote made by someone who didn't understand the majority of people but whom was wrapped up in their own world.  Paranoia plays a big part of the quote as laurell suggested the man was - so it all makes sense if you look at it from a paraoid POV.

But submissive?  No.  It isn't a good quote IMO.  Now, give me something by Tagore or Rumi - and I could work with that.

Speak for yourself. You obviously are filled with guilt or this wouldn't appeal to you. Doesn't mean the rest of us are.

Why does it make you scratch your head?  Are you making the assumption that because people are submissive, there must be a guilt complex somewhere, or an inherent paranoia?  That is what the quote suggests.

Im confused by your claim that someone said that the man that came up with that quote was paranoid. I didnt see that anywhere, talked for a bit with Laurel about a man who poseted a thread a while back that was paranoid though...
What that quote means to me is that Society is teaching people that there is something "unnatural" about being submissive... Which would suggest that we need *as a "Group"* to be wary of those individuals, and supportive of ones that feel guilty due to thier submissive urges... Im not suggesting at all that there are not people who fought through those and get to be themselves without guilt. Just that it seems like "normal" society wants to make them feel bad.
Edit to add: does this quote sit better with you perhaps?
The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on and individual level. It's got to happen inside first. You can take away a man's political freedom and you won't hurt him- unless you take away his freedom to feel. That can destroy him. That kind of freedom can't be granted. Nobody can win it for you. - Jim Morrison

Ah... I think I get the mistake I may have made.
I read that laurell thought that Lavey was paranoid, but she may have been talking about the poster in the thread she directed to.  (just a .slaptheforheadmomentthere.)
Either way, I still feel Lavey did suffer from paranoia and even if he did not, the quote reeks of it. Paranoia isn't just thinking that people have you in their sights, it is also defining their thoughts and actions - ones that aren't necessarily there.  Making assumptions and not presumptions.  I have never come across the mentality that submission is a crime against nature, and that weakness is a sin.  I have a thing about sweepeing generalisations that have no basis in reality.

Some of it, not all.  Why do or would people trade in reality for a role?  I am not naive enough to think people do not.  But it's never been an issue for me.  So in that sense, the beginning of the quote makes no sense to me on a personal level.  The only part of the entire statement I do agree with is the part about personal revolution.  Without that, a person does play a role.  Maybe my revolution just came really early in life.

Men in the society I grew up had to all act like tough badasses. Women had to be untouchable ice queens, thats why that first quote made sense to me... Nothing makes sense or works for everyone, but I do feel that it gives us something to think about, to realize that there are truly people out there who are ashamed or feel guilty for no reason other than they were told/taught that they should... Im not saying that anyone has to like, or accept either of these quotes on a personal level, all I ask is that you consider them...
