ORIGINAL: SimplyMichael ya know, I really prefered Collarme the way it used to be... Some people need to learn to read and others need to either lay off or sell whatever it is they are smoking. The point wasn't that any mention of the past was good, it was to create a term to describe when people are full of shit. I get your point. On a theoretical forum like this where all the partcipants live on different parts of the planet and most likely have no means to validate any claim being given, references to names, times in history, years of experience, and chronical age are really kind of germane. Unless they can make reference to things in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia or have a few other people who regularly post on the boards who can consistently vouch for their factual history, any poster opening up with "Back in 1960 when slaves were becomming masters for the first time and the new model BYX3000 paddle was released...." isn't going to get much notice from me. I tend to notice the exact opposite with people who show integrity. They tend to realize how any claims of lengthy experience equate to a bag of hot air on an Internet board like this. Besides, a length of experience and exposure to others only means more of a chance that they are accurate and informed and never means they are above scrutiny or question. ANYONE who responds to the statement "I disagree" with "What? I was tying slaves when you were born! I was present for the great Christening of the Old Guard Grand Pubbah of 52'!" is going to lose any creditbility with me. Edited to Add : Not to mention that the BDSM and Leather History Book isn't exactly clear and concise. There is so many disagreements about what happened, when it happened, and if it ever happened, it's hard to be completely sure about anything.
