Could be for the kind of reasons I won't go on them. Becuase the *owners* are so worried about someone taking offense to the manner of speech of a sub or slave, the subs and slaves tend to either not post, or ass kiss a lot. Gets old pretty fast.

And their are still problems even among the dominants. A lot of high protocol people seem to be so *postive* of their veiws, they have a bit of a problem accepting a differing one, even if offered by another dominant. And of course, there is no such thing as a sub or slave having a different opion *that matters*......

Granted, that's just my past experience with them, other's may have actually had ones that are different,,,

I've never had the honor. I have heard descriptions, but not the opportunity.

The closest I've come is as a serving slave for a formal party. We were dressed in black thongs, red nail polish, red lipstick, and a black bow tie. The guests were dressed for a black tie affair. There was a string quartet, campaign, and excellent food. The first hours or so was for socializing, the rest of hte night there was an open dungeon.

If I ever get the chance to attend a formal dinner, I will. Just to have the experience.

very nice to meet you as well.

The High Protocol Dinner is usually followed by a play party
But it is a breath taking experience to see all those Dominants in
full Leathers right down to the ones in their Master's caps.

The events that stormi has participated in always are held in
hotels, so it's very wild to see them all arriving or coming from
their rooms to the dinner.

lol...... it's funny the things that make girls all giddy!! That memory
makes stormi that way when she remembers seeing Master.

I dont know much about the IRC or chat system myself. I think I know enough to op myself if there is a problem and now we have regular mods in the chatrooms that take care of disruptive users.

I have suggested posting a list of commands and will pass that idea along again. From what I understand you do not need an IRC client like mIRC it should load automatically when you hit the chatroom button, though some people prefer to use mIRC.

The questions I have with the chats are who will host them?
Any volunteers please PM me or email [email protected] or post here.

And possibly a bigger question would be how do we notify all the users about a scheduled chat.

I suppose its possible to use a collarme mail list and mail every single user about the chat, but I am not so sure thats a great idea.

The majority of the users dont look at the forum either, so posting it here wouldnt help all that much.

What do you guys suggest?

Post the date and time here, then make a special link for the main site page that *lights* when the room is over? I think I remember you mentioning that when they made the forum link red again that there was a whole lot of new people coming and posting?

Like others have said, a regular IRC program tends to work much better than the various java/perl/cgi/etc based irc chat programs. I didn't really find the chat thing on the site to run all that well on my system so decided that it was partly a good reason to just let it be. But more importantly, I avoided looking to see if it was irc or some other wierd thing because I didn't see anything about what the chat was running/what the server was/etc because in the past I've seen site owners get a bit upset when people did that in the past on other sites.

anyways, I just pulled the info out of the chat page's html :)

The server is chat.collarme.com
The default channel is #lobby

For the curious, basic instructions on using mIRC (and most other irc programs) to connect to it are as follows.

-Download your favorite irc program (mIRC, PIRCH, BitchX, etc), use google to find it if need be or try www.mirc.com www.pirch.com and www.bitchx.com for downloads.
-Install it, open it up, and cancel away any question box asking you what server and such that you want to connect to.
-At this point, you will most likely have a blank window with lots of buttonts and a box you can type in at the bottom.
-Some will realize at this point that BitchX was a cool name but not nearly as much fun to learn if you were new.
-type /nick MyNick then press enter, replace MyNick with whatever you want to call yourself.
-type /server chat.collarme.com and again hit enter.
-In most IRC programs you can search through the /list by typing /list word. For example /list bondage would give you a list of all channels that had bondage in the name or topic.
-To get a channel (room) listing, type /list and hit enter. You can usually double click a channel to join it in most IRC programs.
-If you know what channel you want to join you can skip /list and just type /join #ChannelName, case of the letters matters not... as an example... /join #lobby and hit enter to join it :).
-You can use /me to indicate actions, sometimes people think of them as emotes.

Was my pleasure. I don't like java chat plugins, as it gums my computer up. IRC has been around forever, and is easier for me (personally) to use.

As to the suggestions on how to announce 'hosted' chats - my suggestion was obviously to have them topic oriented, and schedualed at specific days and times. Naturally, not everyone can attend under these circumstances, but there's always trade offs with any schedualed event. Announcing them is simple - on the left hand column of the main page, there are thirteen boxes. Add box fourteen, highlight it in red (like occasionally happens with Chatroom san dMessage Boards) and stick it between Instant Messenger and Games and News. Everyone who wishes to read about it, can click the box on the left, and that would take them to an information page about when the chats are, who's hosting, what the topics are, etc, as well as information on how to access the chats.

I know how to set an IRC server up and have been on and off irc.bondage.com for about 5 years. I also can provide hosting space for the server and set it up.

There are free chat clients for all O/S systems as well as web based java applets as mentioned above. They are easy to program as well.

I think real time chat could be a great thing for this community and an option for those who don't much like the forums.

I'd never used bitchx before so I thought I'd try it. when I went to bitchx.com I got moveon.org's website. Now, I happen to be familiar with the moveon website, but I didn't find anything other than the url bar that said bitchx. I'm going to try a google search for it (haven't yet) but thought I'd pass that bit of info along.

yanno the name collarme means to put on a collar
or have a collar put on. Im currious how many subs/
bottoms wear their collars and how many Tops put on
collars. and does this action makes you any more or
less of value then a vanilla person or a concensual
slave? A collar doesent mean a wedding ring or a livein
room mate or sumthing thats put on or taken off at a whim.
D/s has come into play since the creation of the internet
and does not follow the same ways as BDSMers or Ms or SM of
the Old ways. You desire to throw away that which has been
here long befor you were. Even with many of the new munchie
groups that are being formed only allowing those 30 and under
into their groups so that they donot have to contend with the
strict olderways of those of Us whom were here befor the computer.
Yes there are many online now whom do not like the proticals much
less the high strict ones but befor the internet there were only a 17th of
the people whom were open practicing BDSM and along with the newbies
comes the desire to work in their vanilla world into this world and water
it down. Now We are the Ones treated online here as tho We are the Outcastes
once again by those of Our suppose to be Own. Society always seperates Us
and now Our suppose to be Own are tempting to do the same.We were here
befor you part time online practitioners were here and We will be here when you
thin out and move on to another subject on your list of discoveries online.
Now You can see why sum of the best Longtime Lifestylers that I have
seen on here are allready gone. With the mind set that I see here in this post
well,.............. There are allready chat rooms that are open at different times of the
day and night that follow High Protocal and also Gor rooms . If anyone desires to
know when they are open all you have to do is ask here and Ill tell You when
they are open for YOur enjoyment and pleasures. rules ,regulations and proticals
that are of the norm for High protical M/s and Gor are expected at all times with in
the rooms. If I see a interest in them to be open here longer then they are I will
bring My Group here to hold the rooms open 24/7 as We allready do at another site.
I was away tending to business and seeing My two sons on furlow from the war
or I would of been here to comment on this sooner then I had. I still need to fly back
home to Florida so I will be away sum still but I will catch up when I return and return
all the devious blasts in like manner.

Yanno...this is the second post I've read this evening where you cry about people being narrow minded. Doesn't whining about how people don't see things the same way you do, equate to narrow-mindedness?

I understand that you're Gorean...yay. Won't hear me complain about how the fiction of Gor has led to a lot of the BDSM disasters, or how Gor makes it so much easier to maintain control. The protocol is established....slaves are pre trained, right outta the box. Sounds like a great life for a lazy dom. To bitch about the shortcomings of Gor, would be narrow minded.

As far as having a high protocol room...who's protocol would it fall under? Gorean protocols? There's enough Gor rooms out there... Old Guard? Neo-Guard? (okok..made that up) Point is, if I walk into a chatroom and there's kajiras falling all over the place and calling me "Master", Then I think we need to establish a virtual vomitorium. (Besides, nothing makes me giggle harder than a femdom telling me to call her Ma'am.)

I think there are plenty of chatrooms out there that support protocol. I don't see the benefit to having a "high protocol" chatroom here on collarme, as there will be way too many variations on what the protocols should be....and too many people are liable to believe their own hype.

Im catching up on My Bitching as Ive been gone for a week
so thats why it looks like Im harping and I am the Bitch of the
boards and besides I just got off of being banned for 7 days as
well so I really have a whole lotta Bitching posts to catch up on..
My comments here are pertaining to sum snide remarks I take
personal. When I first came here to these Boards, All were
pretty much accepted for Their differances .It is no longer that
way. You dont like what I post theres a little red hand in the bottom
left hand corner You can click. Good evening Thorn~

Key words here "YOU took personal" as NO one made any snide remarks to you. In fact I don't recall any "snide" remarks at all.

In fact, I think that maybe the originator of this thread had you in mind when she posed the question, since you seem to like the protocal. Maybe someone was thinking of a place you and others like you to feel comfortable.

However, in your usage (and I could be wrong) I get a sense that you are implying I
feel this way about you. Well, I enjoy reading what you write although I seldom agree
with much of it, but in terms of emotional investment (which to me is something one
has to have to think somebody else is a bitch) I dont really have much.

On a related note of thinking sombody is a bitch, the physical therapist to help fix my torn ligament wasnt paying attention and torqued it over yesterday. She qualifies as a bitch to me since I woke up with excruciating pain AND discoloration. Happily, she is the company doctor. Two words: Workmen's Compensation.

If implying something about my feelings was not your intent, then I apologize, but if your intent was to suggest I feel a certain way about you, please refrain from doing so in the future.
